On Labor Day, the dignity of work is celebrated, and every worker is held in prayer. May those facing difficult working conditions, seeking employment, and whose efforts often go unnoticed be blessed with peace, rest, and renewed purpose.

Offer a Prayer. Light a Candle.

On the Feast of St. Teresa of Calcutta, let's honor a saint whose compassion transformed the world.

Her legacy is continued, serving the poor, the sick, and the forgotten in communities across the globe.

Today we pray:
Caring Lord, You blessed us with a beautiful example of holiness, Mother Teresa. She followed in Your footsteps by caring for the poor and dying. Help all of us, Lord, to follow where she left off, help us to tend Your flock, seeing Your face in each living being. Amen.

Fr. Madej on 30 years among Muslims: 'I never felt like an outsider'

After nearly 30 years of ministry in Turkmenistan as a missionary, Fr. Andrzej Madej, OMI, tells Vatican News that his goal was to build relationships with all people based on respect and peace, since "where Christ comes, love comes with Him."

When Oblate Father Andrzej Madej arrived in Turkmenistan, the Catholic Church there had to be built almost from the ground up. There were no established structures and no large Catholic communities. Even so, there was the possibility of meeting people.

The Missionary Oblate of Mary Immaculate (OMI) recalls inviting people for tea, talking with them, and reading the Gospel together. Step by step, a community began to take shape. The first baptisms were celebrated at Easter in 2000.
β€œThey saw the Church being born before their eyes,” recalls the Oblate missionary. It was a small Church, growing within an overwhelmingly Muslim society.

Some losses leave us searching for answers that may never fully come.

When someone dies by su***de, grief can be filled with guilt, anger, confusion, and unanswered questions. But our faith reminds us that even in the deepest darkness, God's love does not abandon us.

Sometimes what we need most isn't an explanation. It's the assurance of God's presence.
