Capital Compassion

Capital Compassion To live as Jesus among the broken. Through word and deed, telling & teaching people about Jesus We have a wonderful history dating back to our beginning in 1916.
(1311)

Our forefathers have paved the way for what we enjoy today and we must never forget the sacrifice that has preceded us. We now take up that mantle and carry it forward to fulfill our destiny. With a solid foundation under our feet, we embrace the vision of “TO LIVE AS JESUS AMONG THE BROKEN. THROUGH WORD AND DEED. TELLING PEOPLE ABOUT JESUS AND HOW TO FOLLOW HIM”. We will celebrate our history and renew our passion to fulfill a God-given vision for the future.

You are not forgotten. 💙

Every person who walks through our doors is made in the image of God, worthy of dignity, love, and hope.

Because of your support, we get to remind people of that every day.

“So God created mankind in his own image…” Genesis 1:27

More than food. It’s hope, dignity, and community. ❤️
Every month, 400–500 people visit our People’s Choice Food Pantry, where they can choose the groceries that best meet their needs. But while we’re filling bags, our volunteers are also filling hearts through prayer, encouragement, and connection.

Beginning Wednesday, September 2 at 12:00 PM, Capital Compassion will host a weekly Chapel Service at our Respite Center. Our Chapel Service is open to the public. Whether you've been missing Pastor Rick's weekly messages, you're a current Capital Compassion guest, or you're simply looking for a place to pause and be encouraged, you are welcome at the table.

There’s always room at the table. 💙

Jesus calls us to care for the poor, the hurting, and those who cannot repay us. At Capital Compassion, we get to live that out every day.

This week alone, 5 people we served moved into housing. What looked impossible became a breakthrough.

Your generosity helps provide food, showers, shelter, resources, and hope to people facing homelessness and hardship.

When you give to the least of these, you’re making a difference that reaches far beyond today.

Our client has been part of the Capital Compassion family for the past three years. Recently, he surprised us with something we never expected—a song he wrote about what this community has meant to him.

As we read the lyrics, we were reminded that the impact of compassion can’t always be measured in meals served or bags of food distributed. Sometimes, it’s found in the words of someone whose life has been touched by kindness, dignity, and hope.

We’re honored to share a few of his lyrics with you. We hope they move you as much as they moved us.

Thank you to every volunteer, donor, partner, and neighbor who makes moments like this possible. You are part of every story of hope that unfolds here.

💙 Because compassion doesn’t just feed people—it reminds them they belong.

Sometimes, people just need to know they haven't been given up on. 💙

At Capital Compassion, we believe every setback is another opportunity to show love, offer hope, and help someone take the next step.

Because sometimes, the turning point is just around the corner.

Sometimes the greatest act of compassion is simply standing beside someone who has no one else to advocate for them.

This week, we helped five people move one step closer to a stable future, including one man battling cancer who is now on the path to housing, and a job seeker who found renewed hope after receiving the support she needed.

Every story reminds us why we're here: to speak up for those who can't speak for themselves and help people discover that hope is never out of reach. ❤️

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves... defend the rights of the poor and needy." — Proverbs 31:8-9

Nearly 40 people a day came through our doors this week looking for rest, hope, and a fresh start.

One man arrived facing homelessness, addiction, illness, and separation from his son. Within one day, hope began to return and a path forward opened.

This is what compassion looks like in action.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these… you did for me.” Matthew 25:40

Today we were blessed by the Natomas Rotary Club with 25 buckets that were filled with essential items for those experiencing homelessness. They include a backpack, gloves, hygiene kits, flashlight, tarp and more. We can’t wait to pass them out to those in need. We got an extra treat getting to reconnect with friends from in Sac too. Hearing stories of recovery and redemption. God is always going before us!
