Here’s some great final week before GRAND PRIX info:
Less than one week away from the Awana Grand Prix, and we're excited to bring back racing to Natomas. For kids who don't have cars yet, a few precut shape kits are available with everything you need; all you need to do is assemble and decorate. Reach out to me, and we can get them race-ready.
The following is helpful information about next week's events.
Tuesday: Vehicle check-in before and after Awana.
Kids are to bring their completed vehicles for the weigh-in, and each vehicle must have the wheels & axles that came with the kit and may weigh no more than 5oz. Anything over the weight limit will be returned for modification and must be resubmitted. Cars will be kept until the race on Friday. If they bring their cars on Tuesday, we will create a driver's license with their photo and give it to them on Friday.
There will be a vehicle check-in on the day of the race, but a driver's license will not be provided.
Friday: Grand Prix from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
There are three racing divisions: TNT, Sparks, and Cubbies. The top three finishers will receive trophies.
Awards will also be given for the best design and the best fuel efficiency (the slowest car to cross the finish line).
We will have $3 Hot dog meals, family activities including co****le, and kids can make their own slime between races.
After the official racing, the track will be open to anyone, including adults who have built cars.
Tips:
The heavier the car, the faster it is on the track. So, you want to get as close to 5 oz as possible. Cars that are too light do not cross the finish line.
Some racers glue coins on the bottom of the car. At the check-in on Tuesday, I will have a hot glue gun, coins & weight (limited supply), and a scale to help your child make their car heavier.
Make sure the wheels are smooth and there are no rough spots, as this slows the cars.
You may use graphite on the wheel; do not use oil, as it contaminates the track, and the car will be disqualified.
