What is missed by all in the Christmas story is this: the wise men did not just come to give gifts to (now) THE CHILD (prophesied Isaiah 9:6-7). They came to give themselves to Him! Evidences? Matthew 2:1-2, (1)they spent a lifetime waiting for the star (2) they spent time/lifetime/resources to go to where the star pointed for years (star appeared when Baby was born, now He is maybe a 2-3 year old), (3)they risked going to Herod in Jerusalem and did inquiry, (4) when they saw the star again pointing to where the Child is, they REJOICED and then (5thly, Matthew 2:11) before they gave their gifts, they worshipped (worshipped means they gave themselves as sacrifice Romans 12:1-3)! Christmas is ALL ABOUT GIVING OURSELVES TO GOD!
