In collaboration with the Aish Center of Greater Washington and Alef Bet Montessori School, we were honored to welcome Anat Ishai from Israel, who led a beautiful and meaningful Challah Bake.

The evening began with welcoming remarks from Executive Director Vivet Sparkes, who shared that Magen David proudly serves as the Sephardic Synagogue of our nation's capital. Amanda Boltax from the Aish Center continued the evening’s opening remarks.

75 women and girls attended the event, culminating in an evening filled with dancing, prayers, Hafrashat Challah, and unity. The atmosphere was uplifting and full of positive energy, and participants left feeling spiritually recharged and connected through this special experience. We thank everyone who participated and helped make the evening such a wonderful success.

On Sunday, May 17, 2026, Americans from across the country gathered on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. for the historic “Rededicate 250” event in preparation for the nation’s upcoming 250th birthday celebration.

We are so proud of our very own Rabbi Ari Soussan, who opened the event with a prayer, joining faith leaders from across the country in this meaningful national gathering focused on unity, gratitude, and rededication ahead of America’s 250th birthday.

More than 100 community members gathered for a memorable and successful Hilula evening at Magen David. The evening was a tremendous success, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered, and helped make this event possible.

The evening featured beautifully handcrafted candles imported from Belgium, which found their new owners through a special presentation led by Magen David President Bernard Suissa. The program opened with inspiring remarks by Samantha Suissa, setting the tone for a celebratory night.

A special highlight of the evening was the innovative electronic donation display prepared by Rebecca Suissa, allowing donations to appear live on screen throughout the program and creating an atmosphere of excitement, unity, and generosity.

Guests enjoyed a delicious Chinese buffet, elegant décor, stunning lighting effects, and lively music brought in from New York, all of which transformed the evening into a joyful celebration filled with warmth, dancing, and community spirit. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our incredible volunteers. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Bernard Suissa, Harry & Rowena Abadi, Sophia Janus, and Albert & Doryss Amar for their hard work, generosity, and commitment in helping bring this beautiful evening to life.
