You’re Invited!

Discovering Christ – A ChristLife Experience

Are you, or someone you know, searching for deeper meaning in life? You’re invited to Discovering Christ, a 7-week series starting Thursday, October 2, from 6:30–8:30 PM in Lewis Hall. Together, we’ll explore life’s big questions, build community, and encounter Jesus in a personal way.

This is an opportunity to revitalize your faith – or nudge a friend or family member. Each evening includes dinner, prayer, a short video teaching, and small-group conversation in a welcoming, no-pressure setting.

This is a parishioner-led program, offered at no cost, for adults of all ages (18+). Space is limited for this first-time offering at Holy Cross.

Please share the information and/or register your interest.

Is your child a rising 1st grader seeking First Holy Communion or a rising 7th grader seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation?
In the Archdiocese of Washington, two years is the ordinary period of preparation for each of these sacraments. Preparation consists of both religious education and sacrament specific instruction, so for those desiring to receive First Holy Communion in 2nd grade or the Sacrament of Confirmation in 8th grade in the spring of 2027, now is the time to consider registering for formation beginning this fall.
If your child is not currently attending Catholic school, Holy Cross’ Youth Formation program offers both religious education and sacrament specific classes to help guide and prepare your child. You can learn more and sign up online by visiting our website at https://www.hcrosschurch.org/ and navigating to the Formation tab.
Already attending a Diocesan or Private Catholic School or receiving Catholic religious formation in home school? You can also find out more about and sign your rising 2nd and 8th graders up for one of our sacrament specific preparation courses at https://www.hcrosschurch.org/ under the Formation tab.
If your child has not yet received Baptism, did not receive First Holy Communion in 2nd grade and/or did not receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in 8th grade but now desires to receive one or more of these Sacraments of Initiation, please reach out to Don Neri, our Coordinator of Religious Education, at (301) 942-8790 or via email at [email protected] so we can discuss how best to accompany your child along their sacramental journey in an age-appropriate manner.

Dear Holy Cross family,

It is with deep sorrow that I share the news that our Holy Father, Pope Francis, has passed away.

As the shepherd of the universal Church, Pope Francis served with humility, compassion, and a profound love for the poor and marginalized.

We now enter a time of mourning with the entire Catholic Church throughout the world. Let us pray for the repose of Pope Francis’s soul, entrusting him to the mercy of the Risen Lord whom he served so faithfully. Let us also pray for the Church in this time of transition and for the College of Cardinals as they prepare to gather in conclave.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace. Amen.

In Christ,
Fr. Stephen Wyble
