Guru Gobind Singh Foundation (GGSF) is a Sikh Spiritual Center, an institution with a vision to create world wide awareness about Sikhs and Sikhism, world’s 5th largest religion. Guru Gobind Singh Foundation (GGSF) is a Gurdwara that is a Spiritual Center, an institution with a vision to create world wide awareness regarding Sikhs and Sikhism. Since its very inception in 1985, GGSF’s mission has b

een to enhance the image of Sikhs thru every possible channel and bring them into the mainstream. It has consistently worked to create awareness among Americans at large regarding Sikhs and Sikhism. GGSF also focuses on service oriented projects on behalf of Sikhs to implement the Sikh concept of Sewa (voluntary service). GGSF has been invited, time and again, to the White House and other governmental agencies, regarding the issues concerning the Sikhs in America. GGSF has been active in the interfaith affairs since 1987 and basically initiated the involvement of the Sikhs in the interfaith affairs in local, national and international level. It has worked with Sikh religious leadership in Punjab on many issues. GGSF has also worked actively after the 9/11 issues affecting Sikhs as well. Apart from regular Sunday diwans, GGSF conducts Gurmat and Punjabi classes in Washington metro area. It also organizes annual summer camps for Sikh youth. Since COVID pandemic, GGSF Sikh started food to families in need and till this date it has served over 350K fresh meals to families in need and has become a major center for assistance for the needy. It has been serving food items and school supplies and clothes to schools in area of need in Montgomery County and has provided occasional help to Afghan refugees in collaboration with Montgomery County and PG County police departments.

Gurmat School of GGSF celebrated its annual day - students, teachers and parents all had tremendous fun. The event featured Sikh Jeopardy organized by Herman Singh Basra and groups consisted of students and parents competed. Lot of learning and joy.

The event featured a magician who was arranged by Preet Amrit Kaur. He brought so much laughter and
joy among all ages. And the event had delicious food and deserts. Everyone attending expressed that we should continue this tradition for years to come. Preet Amrit Kaur and other volunteers helped decorate the hall in a festive manner.

Event also recognized all the teachers and snack volunteers who contributed immensely to make this year a great success.

The admin team of Gurmat School worked hard to put together this event and the entire school year’s logistics and planning. Navneet Kaur, Manmohan Singh and Ramandeep Kaur deserves all the kudos for this effort. In addition, all the teachers and snack sewadars deserve a heartfelt appreciation from everyone.

It has been a productive year and another milestone has been achieved. Last day of the year long study of Gurmat is on Sunday, June 14.

Next session will start in September.

Thanks to Waheguru - GGSF Sikh Youth had started sehaj path of Guru Granth Sahib ji over many months ago and finally it was completed recently. We are pleased to have them read the Saloks of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji bani tomorrow in the diwan at 12.45 PM as the commencement of this great task. This has been a collective effort and every child is blessed by Guru Sahib. We are proud of all the parents who encouraged them to complete this beautiful initiative. So please join in sangat to witness this and also seek blessings for our youth.
