Today marks the anniversary of Kyoba Jigten Sumgön's Mahaparinirvana

Kyoba Jigten Sumgön is the founder of the Drikung Kagyu lineage and author of the Gong Chig (Single Intention), a text encompassing all of the aspects of the Buddha's teachings.

Known as the "second Nagarjuna", Jigten Sumgön established and spread the Kagyu teachings of the lineage of Tilopa, Naropa, Marpa, Milarepa, and Jigten Sumgön's own Guru Phagmo Drupa.

Drikung Thil, the monastery founded by Kyoba Jigten Sumgön, became a center of learning that attracted many great masters across Tibet, and remains the heart of the Drikung Kagyu lineage. Over 800 years later, Jigten Sumgön's tradition still flourishes, and today we honor and supplicate him that the Drikung Kagyu tradition continues on, and that we may better understand and practice the Dharma.
