Temple Sinai Rochester NY Founded in 1959, we are a Reform Jewish congregation, continually evolving and growing to meet the needs of congregants and the Jewish people.

We foster Jewish identity and values through individual and group connection to God. Our congregation began in 1959 when two-dozen families came together to establish a new Reform congregation in the Rochester, New York area. Their goal to create a synagogue that lived up to Reform Jewish values and that provided a safe and inclusive environment for Jewish spiritual, educational and social fulfillment remains strong and vibrant today

Dear Temple Sinai Congregants,

We are shaken and saddened by the antisemitic hate crime that disrupted Shabbat worship at Central Synagogue in New York City, including the assault of a congregant and a member of the synagogue’s security team. We send our love and solidarity to the entire Central Synagogue community and are grateful that no one was seriously injured.

This attack did not happen in a vacuum. Words matter. Solidarity after violence is important, but so is our shared responsibility—especially that of political and civic leaders—to reject and refrain from rhetoric that singles out, demonizes, or dehumanizes Jews, Jewish institutions, Israel, or the Jewish people. Such language helps normalize hatred.

We remain steadfast in our values, in the vitality of Jewish life, and in our bonds with the Jewish people here in New York, in America, in Israel, and throughout the world.
