June has arrived, bringing with it the long days of summer, warm sunshine, blooming gardens, and opportunities to gather with family, friends, and community. As the season unfolds, many of us find ourselves spending more time outdoors, reconnecting with nature, and appreciating the beauty and abundance that surrounds us.

June is also recognized by many as Pride Month, a time when we stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and honor the dignity, worth, and humanity of every person.

As Spiritualists, we believe that each person carries within them a divine connection to Infinite Intelligence. Spiritual growth comes through discovering that connection and allowing it to guide our thoughts, actions, and lives. Living in harmony with our truest selves is something Spiritualism celebrates as part of a joyful and meaningful spiritual journey.

This month, we celebrate the diversity of human experience and the many ways that people express the truth of who they are. May we continue to build a community rooted in love, compassion, understanding, and respect, recognizing the divine presence within ourselves and within one another.

Happy June from all of us at the Rochester Spiritualist Society.

May 30th is remembered as feast day of St. Joan of Arc, known as “The Maid of Orléans,” who came to be regarded by many early Spiritualists as a patron saint of Spiritualism and Mediumship. Her unwavering faith, courageous witness to unseen realities, and the persecution she endured for remaining true to her spiritual experiences made her a powerful symbol for those who believed in spirit communication and the continuation of life beyond death.

Joan was a deeply spiritual young woman, gifted with clairvoyance and divine communication. From a young age, she reported receiving visions and hearing voices from spiritual beings—saints, angels, and even the Archangel Michael—who guided her mission to lead and protect her people. Her ability to see and hear the spirit world became one of the most compelling testimonies to the presence of higher guidance in human affairs.

Her testimony remains one of the most striking examples of divine vision recorded in history. As described in Joan, the Medium: Or, The Inspired Heroine of Orleans by Moses Hull:

“The Spirits that came were generally those of St. Catherine and St. Margaret, the guardian saints of the Domremy church; Michael, the archangel, at one time came to the lovely maid. On her trial several years after, she said: ‘I saw him with these eyes as plainly as I see you now.’”

For Spiritualists today, Joan stands as a symbol of divine connection, fearless faith, and the power of Spirit to speak through those who are willing to listen.

May we honor her legacy by deepening our own connection to Spirit, standing up for truth, and embracing the gifts we are given

The Rochester Spiritualist Society wishes everyone a safe, peaceful, and relaxing Memorial Day. As we gather with family and friends and welcome what is often seen as the unofficial beginning of the summer season, may we also take a quiet moment to reflect on the deeper meaning of this day.

Today, we remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives while serving in the armed forces. We hold them in our minds and hearts with gratitude for their sacrifice.

As Spiritualists, we believe that life continues after the change called death, and we know that those who have passed are now in peace and surrounded by Divine Love.

On this Memorial Day, we offer our prayers for peace: peace for their souls, peace for their families, and peace for our world.

Blessings to all on this Memorial Day.
