St James ELCA

St James ELCA You belong at St James! Here, we follow Jesus, ask hard questions, have passionate faith, and want to see God’s vision for humankind made manifest in the world.

We are the church that shares a living, daring confidence in God's grace. As a small Lutheran church in the Northstate, our goal at St James is that in all that we do, we remember that we are “loved by God, [and called to] gather in friendship, grow in faith, and serve as the hands and voice of Jesus in the world.” We hope that we can be an enriching place for your spiritual walk as you journey wi

th Jesus. Our page is no different! We want this online forum to be an encouraging place for all who are here and for our community to know who we are and what is going on both within our church and the greater Redding area. Help us do this as we ROCK on, St James, and follow these guidelines:

1. Be Respectful
Being part of our community requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make communities great, but may also be sensitive and private. What's shared in the community should stay in the community. This is not a forum to air your grievances. As you post, consider whether your post is best for social media or should instead be handled in person and directly with the individual or with the leaders of this community. When replying to others - especially those with whom you disagree - imagine you're having a face-to-face conversation, and ponder how differently you would interact with those people while in the same room, looking each other in the eye, as opposed to miles away.

2. Be Others-Focused

Give more than you take in this community. Self-promotion, spam, and irrelevant links aren't allowed. Posts that aren’t contextual or related to our community may be deleted by our moderators and/or moved to an appropriate subgroup. If you are going to comment, we would prefer it if you could try and add valuable discussion to the conversation. Be friendly, be fair and use common sense.

3. Be Courteous

Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying or hate speech of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender, identity, or personal attacks will not be tolerated. Posts which harm or mock the well-being of another is not of Christ and will be removed from our page.

4. Be Kind

We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. In our efforts to speak with honesty, truth, and integrity, let's also treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required, and debates may in fact interfere with the primary purpose of our page. In closing, posts made to our pages are subject to removal at any time, and membership in the Facebook group is subject to review and/or termination at any time, at the discretion of the creators/operators of this page.

This Saturday is FaithWorks Community Coalition Inc's walk a thon and we're glad to participate. Give at https://go.rallyup.com/faithworks26/m/stjameslutheran
where you can contribute a flat amount or a per-lap amount for the St James Team. If you select a per-lap amount, you can list a maximum amount to give, in case all the St James Shufflers really hoof it and total dozens of laps!

To walk with the St James Shufflers team, sign up at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2026WalkAThonFaithWorks. Each lap is about 1/4 mile and you will count and keep track of your own laps, and every walker who completes 6 or more laps can enjoy a free breakfast after walking!

This Sunday, 4/26, at 9am, we're reminded again of God's intention for our lives, that Jesus came so we "may have life, and have it in fullest measure" (John 10:10). We'll see you there. After worship, take your church directory photo and join us for April's adult forum!
