HERE IS WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THE CENTER..
As we approach the swift passing of May…we take a breath. We are halfway through the floor replacements and wall repairs. Last week Doug Hoerber and Chad Hymas masterfully repaired the broken tiles in the foyer! A most seamless repair. Our gratitude to them both. It looks so beautiful as each stage of this major undertaking is finished. The teams of strong backs and knees continue to rally to move the furniture for the next rooms to be finished.
Avoid the office next week because there is a lot of moving and disruption. It is necessary for the office to close starting June 8-12. We will have access to our phone systems, but the environment will not be suitable to work in-person. Rev. Sue will be in the building “somewhere" on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 am- 3:30 pm. We will continue to keep you updated.
Sunday services at 10 am, we look forward to hearing from our guest speaker, Rev. Dr. Barbara Leger speaking to us about “Faith in Peace”. Dr. Barbara brings to us her passionate commitment for Peace and will be sharing about her work in Ukraine. Our musician will be Dalton Fitzgerald. We will have some snacks in the social hall after the service to make deeper connections with one another.
June 5th the sanctuary will open for the evening Spiritual Music Jam hosted by Shems and Akaysha. Nice time to bring your instruments and bless the beautiful sanctuary with joyful sounds. Friday from 7:00-8:30 pm.
Saturday, June 6th, Rev. Sue MillerBorn is presenting a Sage Workshop on the topic “Mindful of Who We Have Become”. In our time together, we share deeply and discover jewels of insights that can shift our understanding of “what is” at this stage of our lives. We meet from 9:30 am -12:30 pm
Activities start to pick up as we complete the flooring mission. Check out the June/July Awareness Newsletter to stay aware of book club, beading, classes, and art opportunities. We are planning some summer fun.
We are having a celebration of my retirement on June 28th! It will be a music filled service that day and my closing message as Senior minister. Lots of friends are coming so that means you as well. In the late afternoon we carpool to Castle Crags Group Picnic area for a potluck event and will enjoy some forest bathing moments of inspiration. The space has a limit of participation, so sign up if you want to be a part of this adventure at the Craigs by 6/25. Contact the office.
An Interfaith update: Rev. Lynn Fritz invites us to tune into the radio interview she hosted on behalf of Faith in Civil Action and Politics with guests Rev. Megan Owens Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ, Rev. Tim Gorman from the Happy Valley Community Church, and Rev. Bob Swartz from St. James Lutheran Church. Monday June 1 at 8 am and Saturday June 6 at 11 am. (KKRN 88.5 FM)
Enjoy the amazing weather and clouds and rain…and sunshine. We get it all. God is good…all the time. Love Rev. Sue MillerBorn
