Isa 45:20-23 Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save. Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

Tonight's passage:

Psalm 89:15-18 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted. For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.

We have been going through the gospel of Matthew on Sunday mornings and Jeremiah on Sunday afternoons. Tomorrow's passage in the morning service is Matthew 7:15-20:
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

In the afternoon, we are looking at Jeremiah 7:1-7:
The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Stand in the gate of the LORD'S house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these. For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour; If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever.

Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

We are going through the Psalms on Wednesday evenings. Tonight is Psalm 86:8-11 speaking of the pre-eminence of the Lord. We should honor Him, His works, His way, and His truth. Bethel Baptist Church, 2212 Lance St. Rapid City, at 6:30 pm.
Psa 86:8-11 Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works.
All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name.
For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.
Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.

We hope you can join us next month as we sing hymns to worship God!

Tonight we are looking at Psalm 85:8 "I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly."
Thinking on this this morning, I was reading in Charnock again. He started his first chapter with Psalm 14:1. He said "We must first believe that he is, and that he is what he declares himself to be, before we can seek him, adore him, and devote our affections to him."
"I will hear what God the LORD will speak." That is theology found in His Word. He reveals Himself, He reveals man made in His image and then corrupted, He reveals our own hearts through the conviction of the Word the Spirit through the Word, and He reveals the way of salvation, sanctification, and the renewing of the mind.

"Our regard to the world will also show our regard to God. We forget him just in proportion as the world strikes and allures us. In sight of him it can do nothing with us. But where is the spring, when we stoop to the puddle? Are not the consolations of God small with us when we repair to worldly attractions and delights?"
- William Jay in Morning Exercises

The devotional began with the words of Jeremiah 50:7 "My people have forgotten their resting-place."

Remember our true resting place, looking up to the Lord on this Thanksgiving Day and every day.
