At First Alliance church, we are committed to helping people rediscover and connect with God. We're also working to be more prayerful in everything we do.

We have been members of the Christian & Missionary Alliance for more than 80 years. First Alliance seeks to be a loving, grace-filled, community that follows Jesus. This year we're focusing on building a deeper sense of community and fellowship. This summer's unifying faith project is taking us into the neighborhoods around our church to feed kids that are hungry. We believe God's calling us to step up and into this initiative. Each week we meet for music, prayer, reflection and to look at a section of the Bible. We pray for each other through the week and look forward to being together. First Alliance is a great place to be!

Are you worried about scammers? Help is at hand! Join the Live Oaks gang on Thursday November 5th at 7:00 pm as two experts from the State Employees Credit Union share tips on how to keep safe and sane!

AND you can do so while eating dessert! All are welcome and we will meet in the Missions Room at North Ridge Church (7601 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh).

"My co-worker Sydney and I have extensive knowledge and experience with scam prevention. Both from an aspect of stopping scam in its tracks as well as recovering as best we can after the damage has been done. It takes some skill and knowledge to spot the warning signs as scammers become more and more clever through the use of AI and other tools. I am excited to come share some of the latest forms of scams as well as tips on how to avoid scams in the first place."

Live Oaks is a social group for folks 55+ and is organized by Margaret Jordan from North Ridge, along with several helpers. Our FAC representatives for Live Oaks are Vicki Strayer and Ron & Georgia Butts -- so if you have ideas for future events, pass them on to them.

A new DVD series of "Soul Care" by Dr Rob Reimer will be presented for 10 weeks starting October 25th at First Alliance Church. We'll meet on Sundays from 9:00 - 10:00 am in the Education Building.
Each of the 45-60 minute DVD presentations will cover topics from Dr Reimer's book "Soul Care" such as: Securing Your Identity, Repentance, Breaking Family Sin Patterns, Forgiving Others, Healing Wounds, Overcoming Fears and Deliverance.
The one-hour viewing/discussion time will be led by Pastor Dan Rothra. This series was newly filmed in 2025 so is updated from the DVD series we offered a year ago.

Viewers are encouraged to read the book "Soul Care" but this is not required for attendance. All are welcome!

The series finishes on Sunday December 27th and is free.

A 3-day Soul Care Conference by Dr. Rob Reimer will be hosted by North Ridge Church, Raleigh on March 11-13, 2027. To God be the glory great things He has done. God provided a beautiful sunny day for 18 of us to go to Hope Reins on Oct 1st and have an hour long tour of their grounds.
Brittany, our tour guide, shared the history of Hope Reins and introduced us to Hero, one of their horses. Hope Reins rescues horses that have been abused or neglected, and need love and care. They turn these horses into therapy horses for kids and teenagers that have also experienced abuse, neglect or abandonment.
Many kids experiencing trauma hold their feelings inside and shut down or act out in harmful ways. As the kids learn about the trauma that the horses have experienced they become friends and begin to open up with their mentor. Over time, the mentors bring 2 or 3 kids together so they can learn to trust a wider group of people.
Hope Reins offers their three-year program free of charge. There are also follow up mentorship programs for these kids and teens for long term connection and success.
Following our tour, 11 of us went to Milton’s Pizza for lunch and a time of fellowship. A great time was held by all. Thanks to Jan Larson for being our photographer for the day. Thanks to Margaret Jordan for this report!

Our next Live Oaks event (for 55+ young at hearts) will be November 5th at 7pm in the Missions Room of North Ridge Church (one of our daughter churches) and will feature a speaker from State Employees Credit Union to talk to us about spam and how to prevent it. Come for dessert and an informative gathering.

The Ladies Friendship Group will meet on THURSDAY OCTOBER 22 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm in the Bridge Café. All are welcome for a light salad supper, Bible Study, Prayer and Fellowship! Starting in November we will CHANGE DAYS to meet on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. beginning Saturday November 14th. (Future dates to be announced.)

The Live Oaks event for October is an inspiring tour of Hope Reins Ranch in Raleigh, where troubled kids (age 5 - 18) are offered free support with a trained Christian mentor, working with formerly abused horses. For over 15 years, Hope Reins has provided hope and real healing to thousands of children and teens - completely free.
Join us on Thursday, October 1st for the one-hour tour at Hope Reins - which begins at 10:30 a.m. Drive to Hope Reins, 8420 Wake Forest Highway, Raleigh -- or if you need a ride, meet at North Ridge Church (7601 Falls of Neuse Road) at 10:00 a.m. to carpool.
