Today, on the Feast of St. John Mary Vianney, we invite you to pray in a special way for the seminarians of Saint John's Seminary.

Pray that they may continue to grow in holiness, wisdom, and love for Christ as they prepare to answer His call with generous hearts.

As the patron saint of parish priests, St. John Mary Vianney reminds us of the profound impact that one faithful priest can have on countless lives. At Saint John's Seminary, our mission is to form the next generation of parish priests—men who will faithfully proclaim the Gospel, celebrate the sacraments, accompany the faithful, and shepherd the people entrusted to their care.

Today, we also ask you to pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood, that more men will courageously respond to God's call.

Finally, please remember in your prayers our alumni who faithfully serve as parish priests throughout New England. May the Lord strengthen them in their ministry, renew them in joy, and continue to make them instruments of His grace.

This past weekend the newly ordained Father Vincent (Jay) Zizza and Deacon Nick Jones served during the Steubenville East Youth Conference in Springfield, Massachusetts where many of our Rhode Island parishes were in attendance.

Father Chris Murphy to speak at Knights event

PROVIDENCE —The Knights of Columbus will welcome Father Chris Murphy on Friday, June 19, at 7 p.m., at St. Augustine Church, 20 Old Rd. (basement entrance). Father Murphy will discuss his experiences as spiritual director of the Pontifical North American College in Rome. The event will feature a light collation and a free will offering in support of seminarians.

With gratitude to God and great joy, we congratulate Rev. Mr. Nicholas Jones on his ordination to the Transitional Diaconate for the Diocese of Providence on May 16, 2026.

The Ordination Mass took place at St. Kevin Church in Warwick, Rhode Island, surrounded by family, friends, clergy, and the faithful of our diocesan community.

As Deacon Nicholas begins this new chapter of ministry and service to the Church, we ask all the faithful to keep him in your prayers, along with all our seminarians who continue to discern and prepare for Holy Orders.

Today, we rejoice in the triumph of Jesus over sin and death. Easter is a celebration of hope, new life, and God’s unfailing love for each of us.
