Welcome to Saint Matthew! We are celebrating Trinity Sunday. Our celebrant for this morning is Father Welsh.

PRAYER OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in this Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

Today, we celebrate the Feast of St. Joan of Arc (c. 1412-1431). Born in Domrémy, France to peasant farmers, she received divine visions instructing her to support Charles VII and help liberate France from English domination during the Hundred Years' War. When she was just 17, she led the French army in a pivotal victory at the Siege of Orléans in 1429, which paved the way for Charles' coronation at Reims. In 1430, she was captured by Burgundian forces allied with the English, handed over to the English, and tried for heresy in a politically motivated trial. Found guilty, she was burned at the stake in Rouen on May 30, 1431, at about 19 years old. A posthumous retrial in 1456 declared her innocent, and she was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 1920.
