What do we do after we have prayed, but the situation still looks the same? How do we leave a matter in God’s hands when everything within us wants to step in and handle it ourselves?
This week, join Bishop E. Malone Porterfield for Morning Prayer & Intercession as we pray about surrender, patience, and trusting the Lord after we say amen.
Sometimes we bring a concern to God, yet continue trying to control the people, timing, and outcome. We ask Him to work while holding tightly to the way we believe the answer should come. When waiting feels like doing nothing—or makes us feel weak—we can be tempted to take the matter back into our own hands.
Our prayer this week is simple and searching: “Lord, help me leave in Your hands what I have brought to You.”
Throughout this six-day devotional, we will ask the Lord to help us:
• Surrender the matter completely, including our expectations.
• Resist the urge to take control again.
• Find courage and strength while we wait.
• Recognize what is ours to do and remain faithful in obedience.
• Trust His timing without forcing an outcome.
• Receive His answer with a humble and willing heart.
Leaving it on the altar means entrusting the matter to God while remaining ready to follow His direction. We can continue praying, fulfill our responsibilities, and seek His wisdom without allowing fear or impatience to govern our actions.
FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURE — PSALM 37:5, KJV
“Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
