A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR:
Greetings First Baptist Church Pewee Valley. As Pastor, it is my responsibility to give good counsel and to guide individuals in the right direction. There is an issue that I feel compelled to address. As you know, primary elections are taking place next week in Jefferson and Oldham Counties. I usually do not endorse candidates because we have a right as Americans to vote as we choose. I still feel that way but this election is a different issue.
As you are all aware, there has recently been an issue of redistricting states to affect voting outcomes. Part of this cause is also to lessen the impact of marginal voters and to make their vote either inconsequential or unimportant. This also basically gives states the right to ignore the Voter Rights Act of 1965. Some states have already been affected, and more are to come.
Our right to vote is precious. Many have suffered and died to ensure that we have that right. We have over time gotten too comfortable with not voting for whatever reason, and that was a mistake. That is why this message is important. We need to vote next week and every other opportunity that we have. Obtaining proper representation is more important now than ever. We must vote while we can to try and keep the rights we fought so hard to obtain.
I will not tell you who to vote for, but I do ask you to vote. Be prayerful about who to vote for and do your due diligence. I am encouraging each of you to make sure that you use the right before you lose the right. Ava, Mari, Isis, Justus, Baby Lee, Aryah and all our babies deserve the rights we fought hard to get. God bless you all!
