It’s about 2 hours before the nurses come to prep me for surgery and my mind is racing with positive spiritual energy. I’m going to spend the time fruitfully and pastorally. First I send some positive thoughts to my flock at Perry. Many of you, if not all, have experienced trial with health—either or own, your loved ones, or both. I direct my thought to you my beloved.
Sunday was a wonderful day of love and encouragement. Carol and I had many visitors at the hospital. Many more sent electronic messages of love and prayers. It has occurred to me that this is the church’s ministry. This is but one way that we minister to our Lord through ministry to one another.
Two brothers who came and prayed and ministered had gone through open heart surgery and they were very encouraging regarding the trial of healing and recovery that I am about to go through. Thank the LORD of creation for these brothers.
I was warmed and strengthened beyond what I thought possible by the love, concern and faith presented in the room. Thank the Lord of healing for each of them.
I thank God for each who sent prayers and love through the web and phone. I am truly humbled and I want to become worthy of this ministry.
Then there were so many of my family who will walk with me through this recovery journey. Carol is very much the person who supports me through this. I thank God for all of you.
Finally there is the medical team who have encouraged me and minister to us. The surgeon as he walked out of the room said, “ i want you to talk to your BOSS about tomorrow.” By that he meant God. I have been delivering my care into His hand for a while now. I like to have control and I must release control of my wellbeing into the arms of God and the skill of these folks of science.
I do pray at least some of you will have been helped also by my pastoral reflections. Jesus’ peace and grace immerse you in His love and care. Doug
