An invitation from Megan Anduzlis, co-leader of The Sacred Imagination, beginning this Sunday at 9:30 a.m.!
We’re excited to welcome Megan and Dr. Jocelyn Evans as they lead this new Adult Sunday School offering—and we thought the best way to introduce the class was to let Megan tell you about it herself. Whether you’re a lifelong Bible reader, someone carrying questions or difficult church experiences, or simply curious about what you might discover when you approach Scripture with fresh eyes, you are invited.
From Megan:
Ok friends, some of you will want to know that I am so excited to be co-teaching a class with my dear friend Dr. Jocelyn Evans on Sunday mornings at 9:30am. After a long break from group teaching, I’m being gently nudged back into it. 🩷
The Sacred Imagination will be a class for anyone, regardless of age, church membership, gender, etc, and we hope it will be a place of belonging for those who need it, especially those with past tough church experiences who aren’t quite ready to say no to God. (Give us the thinkers, the doubters, the questioners!)
We will share our different perspectives on the Bible: what we’ve been taught about it and how our relationship with the Bible has looked in our lives.
Then we will use a podcast series from The Bible Project called “The City” to practice interacting with the text from an ancient Eastern literary lense.
*Yes, there will be deep dives/comparisons of other ancient narratives!
*Yes, we will discuss the threads, wordplays, historical context, and more found in the Bible and how that transforms our opinion of the text.
*No you don’t have to be a member of our church (or any church) to participate.
We are opening our imaginations to reconstruct a better understanding of these ancient works!
If you wanna come hang with us, class starts this Sunday! Message me if you have any questions!
