Greetings, Beloved Congregation and Friends of Palo Alto Adventist Church,

As we prepare our hearts for the coming Sabbath, I invite you to join us as we gather once again around God’s Word. This week, I will be going to share the message titled "Life More Abundant," with the Scripture reading taken from John 10:7-10 NKJV.

Scripture Reading: John 10:7-10 NKJV

Sermon Abstract
Christ reveals that the enemy seeks to rob humanity of joy, peace, faith, hope, truth, and ultimately eternal life. Satan’s work is always destructive—destroying families, faith, character, and fellowship with God.

In contrast, Jesus came to restore what sin had taken away. He offers not merely existence, but abundant life—a life filled with forgiveness, purpose, peace, spiritual power, hope, and eternal fellowship with God. This abundant life begins now through a relationship with Christ and reaches its fullness in eternity.

It is important to emphasize that true abundance is not measured by wealth or worldly success, but by the presence of Christ in the soul. Jesus is the Good Shepherd who protects, provides, guides, and lays down His life for the sheep. Those who hear His voice and follow Him find safety, meaning, and eternal security.

I invite you to join us with open hearts as we worship, reflect, and grow together in God’s Word.

Happy Sabbath, and may God’s presence be richly felt among us.

In His grace,
Head Elder Alex Clerk

Greetings, Beloved Congregation and Friends of Palo Alto Adventist Church,

As we prepare our hearts for the coming Sabbath, we invite you to join us as we gather once again around God’s Word. This week, our Guest Speaker Pastor Edwin Perla will be going to share the message titled "Spirit-Led Discipleship," with the Scripture reading taken from John 16:13-15.

Scripture Reading: John 16:13-15 ESV

Sermon Abstract
In the gospels discipleship looked like this:
Walking with Jesus
Listening to Him teach
Watching Him preform miracles
Following Him

In John 16, before His death and ascension, Jesus has a conversation with his disciples promising them that “The Holy Spirit” would come and advocate, and teach them in Truth, speaking for Him for His glory and the Father’s glory.

In the Gospel of John, Instead of “follow Me,” we now see a Spirit led discipleship where Jesus is physically ministering and the Holy Spirit is present actively as well. We will explore 3 moments in the Gospel of John where we see Jesus is Spirit led.

Application for us today: Praise God, the promise of John 16 applies to us “His Church.” Discipleship is no longer about physical proximity to Jesus. Instead, discipleship is about spiritual alignment with Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit, serving the Body of Christ (Church).

One can propose, discipleship is, Learning to listen to the Spirit while living within the fellowship of the Body of Christ!

We, have the privilege of being called, His Church (The Body of Christ) a living expression of Jesus on earth.

In these last days of Earth, just like when Jesus was ministering here, people are searching for peace, comfort, purpose, and love. So, we are blessed as Seventh-Day Adventist to serve others and be disciples of Jesus Led by the Spirit until Jesus Christ returns.

This week, Elder Bert Williams will be going to share the message titled "Seeds," with the Scripture reading taken from Mark 4:26-32.

Scripture Reading: Mark 4:26-32

Sermon Abstract
Jesus told stories about seeds in Mark chapter 4. Two of them are short and simple—simply profound, that is. One is longer and somewhat complicated—more complicated than it might first appear. The seed, Jesus says, is the Word and it falls on various types of ground—hard packed, stony, thorn infested, and well-tilled fertile soil. Each type of soil is representative of various hearers, and how they relate to the word they hear. It turns out that a significant element in Jesus' message may not be immediately clear, but is ultimately the most important: If a person wants to hear Jesus' message, it will sink in and grow fruit. If a person doesn't want to hear it, that message won't even make sense to them. Therefore, let us choose to be well-tilled fertile soil.

I invite you to join us with open hearts as we worship, reflect, and grow together in God’s Word.

Happy Sabbath, and may God’s presence be richly felt among us.

In His grace,

Greetings, Beloved Congregation and Friends of Palo Alto Adventist Church,

As we prepare our hearts for the coming Sabbath, we invite you to join us as we gather once again around God’s Word. This week, Elder Bert Williams will be going to share the message titled "Lord of the Sabbath," with the Scripture reading taken from Mark 3:1-5.

Scripture Reading: Mark 3:1-5

Sermon Abstract
In Colonial times in America, Sabbath observance (although it was usually considered to be Sunday) was extremely strict. Sermons lasted for hours and the rest of the day was limited to prayer and contemplation of Scripture. And Sabbath-keeping was enforced, often involving fines for Sabbath breakers.

In the mid-20th Century, vestiges of Colonial Sabbath keeping endured in many Adventist homes. Now, well into the 21st Century, it's likely that most of us don't consider it wrong to take a shower on Sabbath morning. Times change, and with the times habits often change.

Scripture is clear that the Sabbath is important. Sabbath is prominent in the creation story, it is found in the heart of the Ten Commandments, and it is found often in the Old and the New Testament. What sometimes seems less clear is what we should do with the Sabbath. Jesus was a Sabbath-keeper but His Sabbath-keeping didn't satisfy the religious leaders of His day. They were considerably more demanding about the rules than Jesus was.

So, what is appropriate to do on Sabbath? What is wrong to do on Sabbath? Or are those even the right questions to be asking?

I invite you to join us with open hearts as we worship, reflect, and grow together in God’s Word.

Happy Sabbath, and may God’s presence be richly felt among us.

In His grace,
Head Elder Alex Clerk

Greetings, Beloved Congregation and Friends of Palo Alto Adventist Church,

As we prepare our hearts for the coming Sabbath, I invite you to join us as we gather once again around God’s Word. This week, I will be going to share the message titled "The Peace Christ Gives," with the Scripture reading taken from Matthew 14:25-28 NKJV.

Scripture Reading: Matthew 14:25-28 NKJV

Sermon Abstract
This week we have the story of Jesus walking on water toward His disciples in the midst of a storm. The Prince of Peace had grown up and was walking on water in a storm. The disciples, terrified at first, were calmed by Jesus’ words: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” In this moment, Jesus brought peace, not by removing the storm, but by stepping into it with His presence.

This story reminds us that the peace Christ gives is not the absence of trouble but His presence in the midst of it. Often, we celebrate the Prince of Peace who came into a world of turmoil to bring hope and calm to every heart. Just as Jesus reassured the disciples on the stormy sea, He reassures us today—His peace is constant, unshaken by the storms of life.

Life often brings joy, but it can also bring stress, loneliness, and challenges. For some it is the worst of times. Yet, Christ’s peace is available to all who call on Him, offering the calm assurance that we are never alone. Just as Peter found courage to step out of the boat, Christ invites us to step into a deeper trust in Jesus, knowing His peace surpasses all understanding.

I invite you to join us with open hearts as we worship, reflect, and grow together in God’s Word.

Happy Sabbath, and may God’s presence be richly felt among us.

In His grace,
Head Elder Alex Clerk
