We Believe:

God is Triune, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that His being is a mystery. All people are sinners, separated from God, and cannot save themselves and deserve eternal separation from God. Jesus Christ, God’s Son and true man, was born, lived, suffered and died as the substitute for all people, bearing their sins, and that in Him God reconciled Himself to the worl

d; He was raised bodily from the dead as the testimony of God’s forgiveness of sin and as the promise of the Christian’s own bodily resurrection. Each person is saved from eternal separation from God only by the grace of God who gives faith in Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit. Through the water and word of Holy Baptism, God adopts people as His children, setting them apart as His own and making them heirs of His eternal gifts. The Lord’s Supper is Christ’s true body and blood given to Christians to eat and drink for the forgiveness of sin and strengthening of life. In response to His love and mercy, Christians strive to live holy lives as the fruit of faith, and together with fellow Christians in the Church, will serve God and do His work. The Scriptures are the source and norm of all teaching and practice of the congregation. The congregation's teaching is summarized by the Book of Concord (holding to the Unaltered Augsburg Confession (UAC) of 1530). Fuller statements of belief are found at www.lcms.org/

Sunday, June 22, Trinity 1
9:30 a.m., Holy Communion (abbreviated service)

Trinity Season: The Church Belongs to the Lord + Today’s Theme: Counted as Righteous
The Sundays after Pentecost continue the celebration of Pentecost, because by the power of the Holy Spirit the Church arises and flourishes. + White is the color of for the first Sunday after Holy Trinity. + Belief in God’s promise, a promise fulfilled in Christ Jesus, to us is counted as righteousness (Genesis 15:1-6). One’s circumstances in life—either riches or poverty—do not reveal whether one is righteous or unrighteous. Not through our riches but through the riches of God—in Christ’s death and resurrection—are we brought to the comfort of life everlasting. Faith is worked only through Moses and the Prophets, that is, the Word of God, for it points us to Christ (Luke 16:14-31). Thus, rather than justify ourselves before man and trusting in riches, we may freely love one another with those earthly treasures. For “he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” (1 John 4:7–21).

HEARING THE WORD
June 8 - 14, 2025

Sunday, June 8, Pentecost
9:30 a.m., Holy Communion

Pentecost’s Theme: He Calls by The Gospel! + Today’s Theme: Come, Holy Spirit!
The fifty-day celebration of the Easter Season climaxes in and ends with Pentecost. The risen and ascended Savior has sent the Holy Spirit to continue the proclamation of the Gospel and to lead us into all truth. The Spirit is our Sanctifier, entering our heart at Holy Baptism, nurturing us through the Word, enabling us to understand the Gospel, and to live a life filled with His fruit. Without the Holy Spirit no one could come to Christ, believe in Christ, or remain a disciple of Christ. + Red, representing the purifying fire and fervor of the Holy Spirit, is the color for Pentecost. + In man’s desire to make a name for himself, he brought the judgment of being divided and scattered (Genesis 11:1–9). By the coming of the Holy Spirit, mankind is brought together and united in Christ--the one, holy, Christian, apostolic church-- as the people hear the wonderful works of God (Acts 2:1–21). The Holy Spirit teaches and brings to our remembrance the words of Jesus, which are the words of the Father who sent Him. These words bestow forgiveness and peace to those who keep and hold on to them in love for Jesus (John 14:23–31).

White, symbolizing the purity of our Lord and light, is the liturgical color of the Season of Easter, the highest season of the Church Year. + Our Lord ascended to the right hand of the Father; He fills all things in heaven and on earth; He is Lord over all things for the sake of the Church. He continues “to do and to teach,” (Acts 1:1–11) preaching repentance and forgiveness of sins through those sent in His name, (Luke 24:44–53) giving you His true body and blood in the Supper. Jesus is your great Elijah who pours out on you a double portion of His Spirit in the Word and the Sacraments (2 Kings 2:5–15). Easter’s Theme: He is Risen! + Today’s Theme: We Beseech You: Hear Us!
The Season of Easter has 7 Sundays, which lead the Church toward the 50th day of the season, Pentecost, when our heavenly Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus, poured out the Spirit on His people. Sundays are known as 2nd Sunday of Easter, 3rd of, etc. to reflect moving toward that fullness. + The Paschal Candle burns next to the altar to signify the presence of the risen Lord with His disciples. White, symbolizing the purity of our Lord and light, is the liturgical color of the Season of Easter, the highest season of the Church Year. + Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit, who comforts and strengthens the Church; He was lifted up for us on the cross that we might be saved and restored to fellowship with the Father (Numbers 21:4–9); He assures us that “whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you” (John 16:23–33). To pray in Jesus’ name is to pray as one baptized; in Holy Baptism He put His name upon you, declaring you sons of God in Him with access to the Father. Sunday, May 18, The 5th Sunday of Easter

Easter’s Theme: He is Risen! + Today’s Theme: Sing to the Lord a New Song!
+ Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit, who shall comfort and strengthen the Church; the Spirit will establish the kingdom of Christ and extend it throughout the world; the Spirit will accomplish this through the preaching of the Word. Though Jesus has departed from us visibly to the right hand of the Father who sent Him, yet this is to our advantage. For Jesus—who is Lord over all creation, who intercedes for us before the Father—has sent the Helper, the Spirit of Truth (John 16:5–15). “Every good act of giving and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights” through Christ (James 1:16–21). The Holy Spirit helps us by taking of what is Christ’s and declaring it to us. In the Word of Truth the Spirit works repentance and delivers to us the forgiveness of sins, the righteousness of Christ, and victory over the devil. For the ruler of this world is judged and defeated by the cross and resurrection. Through the ministry of the Holy Spirit we have been brought forth to new life in Him who is the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. Confident of our resurrection with Christ we confess, “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid" (Isaiah 12).

+ Though we are pilgrims and sojourners in this world, In Christ we look ahead to a destination yet to come (1 Peter 2:11–17); we are those who wait on the Lord, and those who wait on the Creator shall find strength in His promises - they will not grow weary (Isaiah 40:25-31). The wait is just a little while: “A little while, and you will not see Me; and furthermore a little while, and you will see Me, because I go to the Father” (John 16:16–22). Though we experience sorrow for a time, our sorrow will be turned to joy when He returns; then our joy no one will take from us.

Easter’s Theme: He is Risen! + Today’s Theme: The Steadfast Love of the Lord
He is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! Out of the depths of Christ Jesus’ most painful sorrow and death breaks forth His glorious resurrection. Ever since Christ stepped forth triumphantly, He made that day as the one singular and pivotal day. Today makes everything that follows a building on the foundation that was laid when He whom the builders rejected became the Head of the Temple of God. The night of sin has ended; His grace imparts eternal sunshine to our hearts! + The Paschal Candle burns next to the altar to signify the presence of the risen Lord with His disciples. White, symbolizing the purity of our Lord and light, is the liturgical color of the Season of Easter. + Our Lord Jesus is the Good Shepherd (John 10:11–18): Jesus seeks His scattered sheep to deliver them (Ezekiel 34:11–16); He gathers them and feeds them in rich pasture; He binds up the broken and strengthens the sick; He has laid down His life for wandering and wayward sheep; He has returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls (I Peter 2:21-25) that we may dwell in the house of the Lord forever (Psalm 23).

Easter’s Theme: He is Risen! + Today’s Theme: Like Newborn Infants
+ We children born in Baptism are nourished by what flows from Christ—the Spirit, the water, and the blood (1 John 5:4–10), which declare to us: “Peace is yours”. His breath—His words—are Spirit and life(John 20:19–31), and they raise up our dry, dead bones and give us new and everlasting life (Ezekiel 37:1–14); His ministers speak His forgiving, Spirit-filled words to the penitent in His stead.
