Today is the day! We'll see you at 2PM for the 28th Annual A Day of Remembrance!

This year's speaker is Nicholas W. Hetman, and we are SO excited for everyone to hear him speak. You can read a little bit about his background and achievements below!

----------------------------------------------

Nicholas W. Hetman served honorably in the United States Navy from 1971 to 1977. He has resided in Owensboro since he left the service. Nick currently serves as the Commander of the American Legion Post 9 and will soon be inducted into the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame.

A graduate from the University of Tennessee law school, he retired in 2015 after a distinguished legal career as Senior Attorney for Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, having previously served with Texas Gas. He remains active in the legal field through private practice with the firm of Stevenson & Tierney.

Deeply committed to his community, Nick has served on the board of the Senior Center and Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and continues his civic involvement as a board member of the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art.

Nick is married to Yvonne and remains an active advocate for veterans and the Owensboro community.

What a beautiful morning honoring our heroes! 🇺🇸

Thank you to every volunteer who came out to help place flags on the resting places of veterans here at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Your hands, hearts, and time make this possible.

Every flag stands as a tribute to the service and sacrifice of those who gave so much.

We're so grateful to share this tradition with such a caring community. 💙🤍❤️

Many families tell us they’ve heard the words niche and crypt, but aren’t quite sure what the difference is. These terms can feel unfamiliar, and that’s completely understandable.

A niche is a smaller space designed to hold an urn after cremation and may be located in a columbarium or memorial wall inside a mausoleum or in an outdoor garden setting.

A crypt is a larger space designed to hold a casket and may be located inside or outside a mausoleum.

Learning about your options can make planning feel more comfortable and informed. If you ever have questions, we’re here to help guide you.
