Something wickedly wonderful was brewing at the Abbey this morning! 🧙‍♀️🍂

With witches among us and autumn spices on our minds, we started Sunday by sharing our favorite flavors of fall with a friend or neighbor and hearing the story of the Witch of Endor.

Rev. Debra invited us to gather around the fire (metaphorically), exploring the ancient traditions of St. Brigid and St. Patrick and the different ways we can approach faith: claiming someone else's flame or adding fuel to a fire that warms everyone.

What kind of fire are we tending? And who are we inviting to gather around it?

Thank you for another beautiful Sunday of community, curiosity, and a little seasonal magic. 💜

This morning, members of our Urban Abbey community joined advocates at the Secretary of State’s hearing regarding Initiative 442.

We heard from teachers, coaches, parents, and students about why this initiative is wrong for Nebraska. Nebraskans did not ask for this ballot measure — instead this narrative was created by a PAC who funded this imitative with a single donation of $3.1 million.

That amount is equivalent to $400,000 per trans kid who applied to participate in middle- or high school sports in Nebraska over the span of the past 10 years.

Listen to what real educators and advocates are saying: trans kids in school sports is NOT a problem.

Vote NO on initiative 442.
