The Golden-Mouthed Preacher Who Shaped Christian Thought

Saint John Chrysostom (c. 347–407 AD) stands among the most influential voices of the early Christian Church—hailed as a brilliant theologian, an uncompromising moral reformer, and the greatest preacher of his era. His nickname Chrysostomos, Greek for “golden-mouthed,” reflects the power, beauty, and conviction of his preaching, which continues to inspire Christians around the world more than 1,600 years later.

Explore the life and legacy of John Chrysostom, the golden-mouthed preacher whose teaching, courage, and reform shaped early Christian history.

Wednesday Evenings 7:45-8:00 at St. Paul's Anglican Church

A, short, weekly gathering (immediately following the conclusion of Youth Group, Women's Night, and Theology by the Pint) designed to create an opportunity for practicing some of the hymns we will sing in our Sunday worship services.

Everyone who attends the weekly gatherings (Youth Group, Women's Night, and Theology by the Pint) is welcome (and encouraged) to stay for Pitch Perfect. If you aren't able to make it to one of the preceding groups, but would still like to attend, you are more than welcome to join.

The more the merrier!

This is not a choir! You do not need to be a performance level singer for this!

This is a welcoming environment where people of all skill levels can build authentic relationships, familiarize themselves with some of the hymns we will sing in our Sunday worship services, and feel connected to the life of the church.

Whether you’re new to the congregation or have been attending for a while, Pitch Perfect is a wonderful opportunity to get plugged in, feel at home, and invite friends or visitors to experience community together and to Sing to the Lord a New Song!

(Please RSVP to the event so we can plan accordingly)

Wednesday Evenings 6:30-7:30 at St. Paul's Anglican Church

Theology by the Pint is a weekly, men's, gathering designed to create space for fellowship, meaningful conversation, and studying God’s Word together. A space that invites believers and the spiritually curious to explore big questions of theology, life, and faith.

Theology comes from two Greek words “theos” meaning “God,” and “logos” meaning “word.” Therefore, it essentially, means “the study of God.”

This is a welcoming environment where men can build authentic relationships, grow in faith, and feel connected to the life of the church.

Whether you’re new to the congregation or have been attending for a while, Theology by the Pint is a wonderful opportunity to get plugged in, feel at home, and invite friends or visitors to experience community together.

***We generally try to have some sort of refreshments available. (So please RSVP to the event so we can plan accordingly)***

Feel free to eat before hand, or grab a bite and/or something to drink at Theology by the Pint, where "The Study of God" meets conversation—one pint at a time.

Catechesis
The intentional, relational, and lifelong process of disciple-making, rooted in Scripture and the 2019 Book of Common Prayer, aiming to form believers in the faith once delivered. Classes follow the "To Be a Christian: An Anglican Catechism"—a comprehensive, Q&A-based resource—to ground individuals in the Gospel, the Creeds, the Lord's Prayer, and the Ten Commandments within a sacramental community.

Definition & Purpose
It is more than just learning facts; it is an "embodied and relational practice" that shapes hearts and minds to follow Jesus. The goal is to form disciples who can "reconcile the world to Christ, plant new congregations, and make disciples of all nations".

Structure
The teaching follows a Four-Fold structure:
-The Gospel/Scripture: The narrative of salvation.
-The Creed: The Apostles' Creed.
-The Lord’s Prayer: The life of prayer.
-The Ten Commandments: The life of obedience and love.

Process (Catechumenate)
Catechesis is designed for all stages of life, from baptism preparation to lifelong growth, as well as preparation for confirmation. It involves a "catechist" (instructor) and "catechumen" (learner) engaging in a journey that is personal and communal.

Sacramental and Missional
It strongly emphasizes salvation through baptism, the Lord's Supper, and the preaching of the Word. The process is intentionally geared toward equipping members to serve and reach the world.

Materials used for instruction:
-Scripture
-To Be A Christian: An Anglican Catechism
-2019 Book Of Common Prayer
-Other written/video forms of media which serve as applicable resources for doctrine/theology of orthodox Christianity

If you have your own Bible, Anglican Catechism, and 2019 BCP
Then bring them!

But don't worry. If you don't already have your own, we have extra copies at the church that you can use.
