Today is the solemnity of the Holy Trinity. Here is the Holy Trinity window at St Patrick church. It shows the 3 persons of the holy Trinity who are distinct, and their unity as one God. It is a simple yet beautiful window

This weekend is the Solemnity of Pentecost!

This is when we celebrate the Holy Spirit coming down upon the Church. Christians become temples of the Holy Spirit. The disciples afraid and hiding in the upper room received great Courage, went out and proclaimed Christ crucified and risen, changing the world.

After Easter, this is one of the most important Solemnity of our Church.

I am often saddened because it is so important, but because of the timing, and because there are no traditions connected to it, it is often forgotten. People don't celebrate.

Please: Go to Mass. Or better yet plan your first barbecue or meal with family and friends, and have everyone begin with Mass. AS you light your grill think of the Flames of the Holy Spirit. Hey, we could make the "Pentecost Barbecue" a New Pentecost Tradition.

I am curious: Do you wear red on the feast of Pentecost?

PS: Do you recognize where this picture of the Holy Spirit is from? Notice the Halo. There is a cross in the Halo, which means that the Holy Spirit is God. Jesus also should have a cross in his halo in pictures as well.

Trivia: Notice that there are 7 bright beams coming out of the Holy Spirit. This is symbolic of the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit: Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude (Courage), Knowledge, Piety (Reverence) and Fear of the Lord (Wonder and Awe)
