🚨 𝗥𝗨𝗡 𝗧𝗢𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥

When danger strikes, most people instinctively move away.

But first responders do the opposite.

Firefighters, police officers, and paramedics 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 the very situations others are fleeing. They step into burning buildings, approach dangerous situations, and enter moments of chaos to help those in need.

It’s unexpected because it goes against our natural instinct for self-preservation.

And God calls us to do something similar.

When we see people struggling because of sin, we’re called to be 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 —moving toward people with courage, compassion, and the message of Christ.

Sometimes following Jesus means choosing 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 and 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

What if following Jesus doesn’t always lead to an easier life?

The Christian life includes crosses. Moments of struggle. Moments when our own strength isn’t enough.

And maybe that’s exactly where God wants us to be—turning to Christ and learning to rely on His strength.

Jesus never promised us a path without hardship. He showed us something different:

Gracious God, on this Mother’s Day we remember your Son born of a human mother in order to save us.

▪️ For mothers who carried us into this world and shaped our lives,
▪️ For all who have been like a mother to us,
▪️ For their gentle devotion and love, endless patience and prayers, and faithful teaching of the way of salvation in Jesus Christ,

We thank you.

Bless their efforts. May they realize the importance of their work. When their hearts ache, comfort them. When they feel helpless, remind them you are in control of all things for the good of all. Reassure them of your promise to never leave or forsake them and their families.

Help us find ways to express our love to them through words of love and deeds of kindness. Amen.

On Good Friday we remember the crucifixion and death of our Lord. The Son of Man was lifted up on the cross to the glory of God and for our salvation. While others see a wounded man, we see the source of eternal salvation. We pray to him with confidence, remembering what he has done for us.
