These words carry even greater weight when you know Kanya's (pictured) story.

As the leader of an underground church in Laos, she lost her house, her community and everything she owned—because she and her husband refused to give up their faith in Jesus.

As she watched her home collapse, Kanya* didn't respond with anger or fear. She prayed. She worshipped. And she continued to trust God.

Today, Kanya and other families worship together in a simple church hidden in the forests of Laos—a powerful reminder that no amount of persecution can stop God’s Church.

The photo you see here is a letter. But it’s more than just words on a page—it’s a testimony of a young life transformed by God’s Word.

The letter was written by Xiaogu*, a 14-year-old believer who discovered the hope of Jesus through the faithful ministry of Jason* and his wife Zhi*, Open Doors ministry partners serving in a Muslim region in Northwest China.

In an area where Christian activities are closely monitored and restricted, Jason and Zhi have found creative ways to encourage believers and reach the next generation.

Xiaogu first saw the transformation Jesus brought to her parents’ lives. Through Jason and Zhi’s consistent care and discipleship, she also chose to follow Jesus.

In her letter to Jason, the young teen shared how Scripture is changing her:

“Now I prefer the Bible over my phone and TV. I realize how important the Bible is for Christians. Reading God’s Word is changing me little by little.”

It's a beautiful picture of God’s faithfulness: a young believer learning to trust Him, one prayer and one page of Scripture at a time.
