Come join us for worship at 9:45 AM every Sunday. Hickory Church is a Bible believing, Bible teaching church. If it isn’t written in the Bible we don’t teach it. Hickory started out in the late 1800s with a Church of Christ doctrine. It was founded by faithful Christians as a congregation with roots in the Restoration Movement of Christian Churches. In fall of 2019, we voted to go completely indep
endent and start anew. Everything we stand for is Bible based and not based on any doctrines. Hickory has sent hundreds of individuals into ministry across the globe and desires to continue to that trend. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It was written by men under supernatural guidance. They were inspired by God and therefore the Bible exists today without error. (2 Timothy 3:16, Psalms 119:105, Proverbs 30:5)
We believe that there is one God who is the creator of the universe and has eternally existed in three parts, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.(Genesis 1:1, 26, 27, 1 Peter 1:2, Psalms. 90:2)
We believe that Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God. He lived a perfect, sinless life on earth. He offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind when He died upon the cross. He was buried in a tomb for three days, and then to demonstrate His power over sin and death, He arose from the dead. (Matthew 1:22-23, 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, John 14:6, John 3:16)
We observe the practice of baptizing the repentant believer by immersion in water, confident that this expresses the form and purposes of the New Testament precedent. The New Testament teaches that all believers receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in relation to their faith, repentance, and baptism. (Acts 2:38; Acts 19:1-6; I Corinthians 12:13; Romans 6:3-8; Matthew 28:19; Ephesians 4:5)
We believe that the blood of Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross provide the sole basis for our forgiveness of sins and that those who put their faith in Christ should repent of sin, confess that faith, and be baptized into Him. (Romans 10:9, Romans 6:23, Acts 2:38, Ephesians 2:8-9, Galatians 3:26; Hebrews 11:6)
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ on earth. All who have put their faith in Jesus Christ make up the church. We are empowered by the Holy Spirit to be salt and light. The Church exists to save the lost and edify the saved. (Ephesians 4:1-16, Matthew 5:14)
