🎯🎯🎯WHAT IS PRIDE 🎯🎯🎯

1. PRIDE IS AN ATTITUDE OF INDEPENDENCE FROM GOD. I don’t need You God, stay out of my life, I can handle it myself. You say, ‘I don’t have that.’ But let me ask you a question, Do you pray regularly? Your prayerlessness is not the GREATEST problem, the greatest problem is that you don’t feel the need to.
2. PRIDE IS A SPIRIT OF UNGRATEFULNESS TO GOD. Paul asked in 1 Corinthians 4:7, “What do you have that you did not RECEIVE?” Even our ability to WORK came from God.. pride makes us take responsibility for what God ALONE has provided.
3. Pride is ESTEEMING YOURSELF BETTER THAN OTHER PEOPLE.
Indicators:
A proud person becomes irritated whenever being corrected for mistakes.
A proud person accepts praise for things over which he or she has no control… beauty, talent, abilities.. those are GIFTS.
A proud person will not admit mistakes. Always an excuse and an alibi… an attempt to justify oneself.
A proud person, upon having a disagreement immediately leaves the situation and says, “I can get along without you!”
Pride REFUSES to learn and take counsel from other people.
Pride often shows itself in competition with other people; pride doesn’t want MORE, pride wants more than someone ELSE.
C.S. Lewis said, “Pride gets no pleasure out of HAVING something… only out of having MORE OF IT than the other man.
We say that people are proud of being rich, or clever, or good looking, but they are not… pride has overtaken when they want to be RICHER, MORE CLEVER, or BETTER LOOKING than others.
It is the COMPARISON that makes one proud.
