“A Silly Donkey”
Zechariah 9:9, “Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem!
Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding
on a donkey—riding on a donkey’s colt” (NLT).
This is a prophecy about Jesus, long before Jesus arrived as a baby upon this earth.
It is also a promise.
A promise that no matter what, Jesus is victorious.
A promise that no matter what, the King is coming to you.
A promise that the King is riding into your life.
A promise that the King is righteous and victorious.
A promise that the King will come in humbleness, not by force or intrusion.
Jesus will come riding into your life on a silly donkey.
Wherever you are, these promises are for you.
If you are battling for your mind, battling an addiction, or battling for your family,
Jesus is victorious.
If you are navigating the waters of divorce or in pain because of the loss of a child or don’t
know what to believe of the truth of your identity, Jesus is coming to you.
If you have felt lost your whole life, or believe you are unworthy, or can’t see a way out of your
circumstances, Jesus is righteous and victorious.
Jesus will lead you through.
If you feel unseen, unlovable, unworthy, or unappreciated, Jesus can ride into your life in
the most unexpected way possible. To do the most unexpected thing.
Jesus will come. It might not be in the way or time or manner that you expect.
Jesus might arrive on a silly donkey.
Psalm 139 states that God knows everything about me.
God knows what I am battling or contending for.
God knows the things I fight, that seem like they are battling and contending for me.
God knows.
And He is going to arrive.
Jesus is going to arrive in a way that you didn’t expect, in a manner you don’t expect.
(Like a silly donkey or a baby in a manger)
Will you receive Him?
Will you look for Him?
May we receive Jesus this Advent season.
May we look for Jesus this Advent season.
I know I am.
I hope you are too.
