Update: While many of us were offering up prayers for Jonathan during today's vigil, the Walker County, Alabama, law enforcement announced that he was found deceased.
Those who wish to offer financial support to Angel and her family may do so through DaySpring at www.dayspringfla.org/giving. Your generosity is deeply appreciated and is one meaningful way to surround this family with care and compassion.
Please hold the Jonathan Boley and his family in prayer https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1337566751738033&id=100064541628519&mibextid=wwXIfr
Dear ECCC family,
I am writing with a heavy heart to ask for your prayers and support.
Jonathan Everett Boley, the 4-year-old son of Angel Boley, Guest Services Director at DaySpring Camp & Conference Center (formerly worked at Camp McDowell), has gone missing. This is every parent’s worst fear, and our hearts ache alongside Jonathan’s family, the DaySpring community, and all who love him.
I ask that our ECCC family hold Jonathan, Angel, Camp McDowell, Camp DaySpring, and all who love them close in prayer during this terrifying time. We pray especially for Jonathan’s safe and swift return, and for strength, peace, and hope for Angel and her family.
The Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida has invited the wider Church to pause and pray together today at 1:00 PM Eastern, holding Jonathan, his family, and all those searching for him in prayer. We invite our whole community to join in that moment wherever you are as a sign of our shared hope, care, and faith.
In times like these, words feel inadequate. And yet, prayer is one of the ways we stay connected to one another and to God’s presence especially when the road ahead feels uncertain. Where ever you are, please pause and say a prayer, offer a song, light a candle for Jonathan. If words are lost on you, here are a few below;
Loving and faithful God,
we place Jonathan into your tender care.
Surround him with your protection and peace.
Be near to him in every moment,
and guide those who are searching with clarity, courage, and strength.
Hold his family in your loving arms.
Grant them comfort, endurance, and hope
in this time of fear and waiting.
Be present to all who are walking alongside them
first responders, caregivers, volunteers,
and the DaySpring and McDowell community.
God of light and life,
when we feel helpless, remind us that we are not alone.
When the way feels dark, be our guide.
Hear the prayers of your people, O God,
spoken aloud, held in silence.
cried out in fear, and offered through song.
Unite us in hope, sustain us in love,
and draw Jonathan safely home.
Amen.
Thank you for holding this family and community in your prayers today.
With hope,
Jess Elfring-Roberts
