"India's 37 million diaspora is the world's biggest," reports Justin Long quoting a recent article in the Economist. Many left because it was easier to succeed abroad: India has not "created the conditions for them to flourish." Few in the diaspora want to return home to India, where "jobs are scarce and cities are unliveable." Over 3 million are in the US.

I have said for a long time that in missions we start way down the track, assuming that the initial rails have already been laid. These statistics from Lifeway Research are not new news. But the first three of these five points intersect very directly with missions issues.

If almost half of the people in our churches believe that God accepts all religions, no wonder they feel no urgency for missions--neither to their next-door neighbor much less to those at the ends of the earth. Yes, this is the church's responsibility, but what are we doing to help them communicate that our culture's message of tolerance for all beliefs clashes with Scripture?

The Pew Research Center released their findings from a research project last spring that they have titled, "25 Years after 9/11, a Portrait of Muslim Americans." It also includes statistics about the attitudes of Americans in general to Muslims in the US. It is well worth reading and considering. How do these findings reflect what you are seeing? How do they impact how your church helps its members view the opportunities to share Jesus with Muslims they meet?

Some Americans still see Muslims through the lens of the terrorist attacks. Yet Muslims are a growing, vibrant part of the country’s political and religious landscape.

A news report on the tightening conditions in Afghanistan, particularly for women serving other women and girls. Please pray for those who continue to serve the huge needs of women across this nation.

The Lausanne Movement is launching a new course for local churches called "Global Disciples." As part of the launch, they are hosting a five-week online cohort experience designed to help leaders like you go deeper into the themes from the series and consider how this resource can serve their own communities.

We haven't had a chance to preview this material yet so cannot comment on how it compares to other resources. But check it out for yourself and consider becoming part of the leader cohort.
