The Leadership Council is meeting by video conference tonight for their virtual summer meeting. Holy Spirit, be with this group as they continue to plan and work for the good of the TEC movement! Guide their conversations and bring fruit from their efforts!

Welcome again to Tuesday with Therese! St. Therese of Lisieux, the patron saint of the TEC movement, wrote:

"[God] wants me to love Him because He has forgiven me, not much, but everything. He did not wait for me to love Him with a great love, like Magdalene's, but made me see that He had loved me first, with an infinite providence, so that now I may love Him in return even unto folly."

Loving God fully, wholly, madly, or as St. Therese says, "unto folly," may seem unusual but is an excellent kind of love to strive towards. Let our entire hearts be consumed by our love for God, in the same way that he loves us.

In today's Gospel, Jesus charges his disciples with instructions to cure, cleanse, and protect his lost sheep. We take these charges for ourselves, too, because of the reminder also found in today's Gospel: we received all that Jesus gave us at no cost to ourselves; thus, we offer that same faith and love to others and ask nothing in return.

Today, we celebrate the feast of the Sacred Heart! This year, bishops across the United States have been preparing to consecrate the country to the Sacred Heart. Jesus, draw us nearer to you through the overwhelming love of your heart!

Welcome back to Tuesday with Therese! The patron saint of the TEC movement, St. Therese of Lisieux, wrote of the time her beloved older sister went to live in the Carmel convent:

"How can I describe what went on in my heart? In a moment I saw what life is really like, full of suffering and continual separations, and I burst into bitter tears. I did not know then the joy of sacrifice."

St. Therese is well known for offering up her trials and tribulations as sacrifices, but she didn't start that way! It took time for her to recognize the ways in which she was able to serve God by offering up her heartaches. Perhaps we, too, have not fully learned to surrender all our trials to God. St. Therese, help us to offer wheat in extraordinary ways just as you did!
