Church was 115+ full today!

We welcomed many folks visiting from Church of the Atonement, St. Benedict’s, and St. Mary Magdalene in Ft. Lauderdale on their holiday.

Thank you to our Japanese, English, Spanish, and Portuguese readers and our incredible choir and guest organist for a spirited Pentecost!

As announced on Sunday, Summer Camp will not be held at St. Luke’s this June. We recommend our neighboring Episcopal institutions offering camp this summer. After the sustained efforts of our summer camp director, reaching out to schools and neighborhood organizations, enrollment remained too low for the church to afford providing camp.

St. Luke’s is a place where children of all ages and abilities are welcome during Sunday worship. Activity bags are available each Sunday and the children’s lending library is available to families as you enter the church.

May you all have safe and happy summers with your little ones and growing children!

Letter from the Rector:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Dear Church,

June 3rd will be the anniversary of my first 10 years of ordained ministry, all of which have been spent in the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana. June 7th will be my last Sunday celebrating at St. Luke’s as its rector, which is bittersweet news to share.

I am grateful for the 4+ years of ministry at St. Luke’s, first as supply priest, then as priest in charge, and then as your rector. I will leave with many fond memories, especially the many Baptisms, Confirmations, Receptions, feast days, special liturgies, artistic projects and concerts, and outreach ministries we have shared with one another.

I ask for your prayers for traveling mercies as I begin my next call as a chaplain serving at St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire. Returning to high school chaplaincy, this time at an Episcopal boarding school, where I will be teaching, living in community, and leading school-wide worship, brings me joy.

In Christ,

Mother Jane-Allison+

Rev. Dr. Jane-Allison Wiggin

Letter from the Senior Warden:

Dear Church,

Please join me in thanking Mother Jane-Allison for her ministry and service to St. Luke’s these past years. On Sunday, June 7th, we will gather in prayer for Mother Jane-Allison’s journey as she answers her call to teach and minister to the youth. Please speak to a member of the vestry if you would like to contribute to the farewell reception. We appreciate all her work and effort in sharing the good news of St. Luke’s and getting our Blessed Gaudet mural completed.

The Rev. Canon Morgan MacIntire is our resource for next steps, including scheduling supply priests for regular Sunday Morning Eucharists. We will continue to be in communication with the diocesan office in this period of discernment and keep the church updated. When the time is right, the vestry will reach out to invite members of the congregation to serve on a search committee.
