Immanuel Community Church

Immanuel Community Church This page exists to inform and update others about the efforts to plant Immanuel Community Church in the city of New Orleans. Proclaiming Christ.

It is our desire to plant a church where Jesus Christ is treasured and where a diverse community of believers are being conformed to his image. It is our goal to cultivate this by:

1. In light of Colossians 1:28 and 2 Corinthians 3:18, we believe that for unbelievers to come to Christ and for believers to grow in maturity in Christ they must have the gospel consistently put before them. We believ

e this happens not only through the regular preaching of God's word, but also through the ministry of the saints as they minister God's word to one another.

2.Communion with the Saints. Hebrews 3:13 says, "exhort one another every day, as long as it is called 'today,' that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin." We believe that persevering as a Christian is not an individual effort. The Church in the New Testament is described as a Body, Temple, Priesthood of Believers, and a Household of God, thus demonstrating that we are in a collective work. We persevere by regularly meeting together to worship, living life together, bearing one another's burdens, and confessing and forgiving sins we have committed. Our unity has the ability to testify to the truth of the Father sending the Son (Jn. 17:20-21)!

3. Fellowship with the Father. Because of our union with Christ we are no longer enemies and strangers with God, but we are seen as adopted sons and daughters. Jesus summons us to come to the Father in prayer knowing that God is far more generous than any earthly fathers, namely in that God gives His own Holy Spirit (Luke 11:1-13). We believe that we are in great need for God to supply His grace for us to persevere in faith and love, so we believe that we should be a body of believers marked by prayer.

In the early days of Immanuel Community Church, Matthew Delaughter started meeting and reading books with young men in the church, who aspired towards pastoral ministry. Cody Cunningham then came along to help develop this pastoral mentorship into something more formal, which became the Timothy Track. The Timothy Track was a two year program for men aspiring towards pastoral ministry.

Most recently, along with other local pastors we have created The Shepherd's Institute. Currently, we have students from St. Rose Community Church, FBC Luling, Harvest Church, Edgewater Baptist Church, Bridgedale Community Church, Fellowship Bible Church, The Forest Church, and Immanuel Community Church.

The Shepherd's Institute operates as a school of ministry, with up to 21 hours of credit that are accredited through the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Our Fall 2025 class has already started, but we would love for you to join us in the Spring, if you aspire towards pastoral ministry. Not all participants are seeking credit through NOBTS, so you are most welcome to join just as a participant of The Shepherd's Institute.

Please feel free to contact Matthew Delaugher at [email protected] or Brandon Langley at [email protected].
