Let's get one thing straight. There is no easy way out. There is no shortcut home. One of my favorite songs from the movie Rocky IV, sung by Robert Tepper, helps me understand this: life is built with winning, losing, and failure already attached.

Just like a car has drive, reverse, and neutral transmission, we are going to win some and lose some, and yes, there will be times when we fail. The only thing that is not built into life is the choices we make facing these moments. Will we fight? Will we wait? Will we adapt? Will we accept? Will we explore? Will we create? Or will we just quit? How will we respond in these moments of adversity? I invite you to read the book of Acts 13-15 about a man called John Mark. -RevJK

One of the most difficult things for us to do is to not make decisions while in our feelings. Too often, we make decisions based on how we feel, not on what's real. Making decisions based on our feelings can damage others as well as ourselves. There is no room for pettiness while making decisions. Our feelings can lead us to make a rash decision in a second of emotion. Step back, breathe, do not call him or her. Assess the problem.

Esau gave it all away based on a moment in time because he was hungry.

I invite you to read the book of Genesis 25-28 found in the Bible. - RevJK

Time Management & Stress

Many people don’t realize that poor time management is one of the greatest sources of stress. But the answer isn’t simply doing more or planning every second of the day. There must be balance.

When we become consumed with managing every moment, we can spend so much time worrying about the future that we fail to live faithfully in the present. Effective time management isn’t about control—it’s about stewardship.

Even Moses faced this challenge. In Exodus 18, he was overwhelmed trying to do everything himself until wise counsel taught him to delegate responsibilities. By sharing the workload, he was able to serve more effectively and avoid burnout.

Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is recognize our limits, trust others, and allow God to order our steps.

📖 I invite you to read Exodus 18 and reflect on this question:

Are you managing your time, or is your time managing you?
