If you’ve been feeling exhausted by the same routines, the same responsibilities, and the same quiet prayers lately… this message is for you.

In Luke 5, Simon Peter was just a tired fisherman washing nets after an unsuccessful night. But what looked like an ordinary moment became the place where Jesus changed his life.

Last week’s sermon preached by Next Steps Pastor Terri Hill is a reminder that faithfulness in the ordinary still matters.

And maybe the thing that feels repetitive to you right now is the very place where Jesus wants to meet you.

In Luke 5, Simon Peter had spent the entire night fishing and caught nothing. But even after the disappointment, he still washed and prepared his nets for another day.

Why?

Because faithfulness in the ordinary matters.

The small things.
The routines.
The responsibilities nobody notices.

This sermon reminds us that Jesus often meets us in everyday moments, and the ordinary things we keep showing up for may be preparing us for something greater than we realize.

Before Peter became one of Jesus’ disciples, he was just Simon. A fisherman doing an ordinary job after an exhausting night of catching nothing.

And that’s where Jesus met him.

Not in a perfect moment.
Not when everything was figured out.
But in the middle of everyday life.

Sometimes we forget that God still works in ordinary places through ordinary people. Even in routines, disappointments, and quiet seasons, Jesus sees us.

“Cleaning nets” is the stuff nobody claps for.

The routines.
The responsibilities.
The small acts of faithfulness that feel repetitive, unseen, and ordinary.

But in Luke 5, Jesus met Simon while he was cleaning nets after an unsuccessful night of fishing. Sometimes the moments that feel the smallest are the very places where God is preparing you for something greater.

Today we honor those who exemplified the greatest love by laying down their lives for friends, as Jesus taught in John 15:13. Their selfless sacrifices inspire us to live a life marked by courage and service. 🌟

Over the last four weeks in “Final Instructions,” we’ve learned that following Jesus is more than believing. It’s remaining in Him, serving like Him, and helping other people follow Him too.

That kind of life is not meant to be lived alone.

At Wellspring, we are building a community where people can grow in faith, build real relationships, and follow Jesus together. Join us this Sunday.

Every Sunday at 8:30 am, 10 am, and 11:30am

A lot of people think following Jesus means waiting for a big assignment to come their way.

But being a disciple is simple..

It looks like loving people well, pointing people to Jesus, and serving in your community.
