Are we building a church that's just comfortable for us, or are we making room for more people to encounter Jesus? This Sunday, we tackled a challenging question: Have we unintentionally adopted an "us four and no more" mentality?

Jesus' final words to His disciples in Matthew 28:19-20 weren't a suggestion—they were a commission: "Go and make disciples of all nations." The Great Commission is still alive, and it's our mission until Jesus returns. Church isn't just a great Bible study on Sunday mornings—it's God's strategy for reaching the world.

As we grow, we're called to get both larger AND smaller: expanding our reach while deepening connections through community. In a world becoming more artificial through AI and technology, the church must become more human. We need each other. We need authentic relationships.

The question isn't whether you like small or large churches. The question is: Are you willing to serve, connect, and make room for one more person who needs Jesus?

Remembering the Cross

Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Devotional: Communion is not religious tradition or an ordinary snack—it's a place of remembrance and repentance. When Jesus broke bread and poured wine, He was revealing the most radical rebellion of all: love that dies for its enemies. Every time we take communion, we're announcing that the cross, not the world's power, is how God's kingdom comes. Have you let your heart grow dull to what Jesus did? Have you treated His sacrifice as ordinary? Today, as you reflect on the broken body and poured-out blood, let it search your heart. Where have you compromised with worldly values? Where have you chosen comfort over cross-shaped living? Communion calls us back to center: Jesus crucified, Jesus risen, Jesus returning. Recommit yourself today to living as a foreigner in this world, a red-letter rebel whose life is shaped not by culture's demands but by Christ's love.

What if Jesus' words weren't meant to comfort us, but to completely transform us? Over eight weeks, we've explored how the red letters of Scripture turn our world upside down—or rather, right-side up.

Jesus didn't call us to be fans. He called us to be followers. His counter-cultural love challenges everything: Love your enemies. Deny yourself. Take up your cross daily. The world says assert yourself—Jesus says surrender. The world says get even—Jesus says forgive.

This Sunday, we concluded our Red Letter Rebel series by remembering that communion isn't just tradition. It's a place of remembrance and repentance. Jesus didn't overthrow Rome—He overthrew sin and death. His sacrifice wasn't ordinary. It was the most radical act of rebellion against darkness.

Are you living as a foreigner in this world, or have you compromised with it? Let His words reshape you today.

Jesus didn't just tolerate children—He treasured them. When His disciples tried to turn kids away, Jesus became angry and said, "Let the children come to Me. Don't stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children" (Mark 10:14-15).

Children aren't interruptions—they're inspirations. They show us what true faith looks like: trusting dependence, humility, and teachability. Jesus even taught that we must receive God's kingdom with the simplicity of a child. Their spontaneous worship flows from God's design, and their praise is already written on their hearts.

The challenge for all of us: Are we opening the way for children to come to Jesus, or are we unintentionally getting in the way? Children are a gift from God and a reward from Him (Psalm 127:3). Let's welcome them, protect them, disciple them, and learn from their childlike faith.
