A Time for Remembrance & Healing ❤️‍🩹

As our community approaches the one-year anniversary of the tragic shootings at Annunciation School and Cristo Rey in August 2025, many of us are still carrying grief, questions, and the deep impact of what happened.

On August 27 & 28, from 11am–8pm, Annunciation Church will host a time of prayer, reflection, and healing practices at Creekside United Church of Christ
📍 106 E Diamond Lake Rd, Minneapolis

This gathering is open to everyone in the community. No reservations are needed, and all are welcome.

Whether you come to pray, sit quietly, reflect, connect with others, or simply be present, there is space for you.

In a time when our community is still shaken, may we come together with compassion, care, and hope—and hold one another gently as we remember. ❤️

There is something pretty wonderful about making art outdoors. 🌿🎨☀️

This summer, Professor Lance has taken his weekly art class outside the Fellowship Hall and into some of the beautiful places around our community — parks, lakesides, gardens, and wherever inspiration can be found.

We stopped by Rosland Park last week and found the class completely in the zone — quietly observing, creating, and soaking in the beauty all around them. It was a beautiful reminder that art asks us to slow down and really see.

For Professor Lance, that kind of seeing is spiritual, too. He believes that making art can deepen our faith by helping us pay attention to creation, to beauty, to light, to wonder — and ultimately to the One who created it all.

We are so grateful for the many years Professor Lance has shared his talents, wisdom, creativity, and joy with our church. He is pretty cool. And so is this class. 💛

Thank you, Professor Lance, for helping us see the world — and God’s presence in it — with fresh eyes.

🌿✨ Please join us in welcoming Katie, our new Children's Faith Coordinator, to our church staff!

Katie brings a heart for ministry, a passion for building relationships, and a creative spirit to her new role. She holds a B.A. in Missional Ministry from Bethel University and has experience in youth ministry, volunteer coordination, photography, graphic design, and media.

But there's much more to Katie than her ministry résumé! She has a green thumb (she has 20+ houseplants! 🌱), loves spending time with family and her two young nieces, and exploring the outdoors with her husband and their little dog, Poppy. Her perfect weekend includes brunch, ice cream, and a walk in nature. She's also happiest in a great museum and looks forward to visiting some of the best in art during future travels! 🇫🇷🎨

And here's a fun fact: Katie grew up as a figure skater and has even completed a rollerblading marathon! ⛸️🛼

We're so excited to have Katie joining our church family and can't wait to see the ways God will use her gifts, creativity, and love for children and families. Welcome, Katie! 💛

🌿 Community Spotlight: Alcoholics Anonymous THIS WEEKEND -

For more than 50 years, our building has been home to recovery meetings that have quietly supported members of our wider community.

This Sunday, we’re honored to welcome Meg, who will join us during worship to help us learn more about Alcoholics Anonymous, the role it plays in people’s lives, and how it continues to serve our neighbors.

At Lynnhurst, we believe our building is more than a place for Sunday worship. It is a place for healing, connection, support, and outreach—and that is an important part of our mission as a church.
