It's my honor to announce that the recipients of the 2026 Volunteer Service Award are Minnesota Unitarian Universalists, for their tremendous dedication and faithful commitment to justice in organizing UUs from around the country to join in training, worship, and historic anti-ICE protests last January. We are grateful for their activism, community care, and resistance ministry.

The Volunteer Service Award will be given to Minnesota UUs during General Assembly, as part of the General Session on Tuesday, June 16. Please join us in celebrating at GA. Learn more and register at the link in the comments below.

Congratulations to Allison Connelly-Vetter, our Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministries, on having her gorgeous essay, "Mothering Another Word," selected as a winner by WATER: Women's Alliance for Theology, Ethics, and Ritual!

A tiny excerpt (we hope you'll read the whole thing):
"My wife keeps the lights on in the car for the entire drive to the clinic. Every few minutes she asks me, 'Is our baby still breathing?' I lean my face close to Frances, my ears right under her tiny nose. 'Yes,' I say. 'I can hear her breathing.'"

First U is seeking a Childcare Provider!

Overview:
Provides supervision and care for babies, toddlers and preschoolers while their parents and caregivers attend worship services and church activities on-site
Works Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. with potential for additional hours on Wednesday evenings if desired

Hourly Rate: $16.37/hour
Additional Benefits: Paid Sick and Safe Time accrual of 0.0461 hours per hour worked. Eligible for MN Family and Medical Leave.

With deep gratitude to Emma's Revolution, and to each person who bought a ticket, joined us in person and virtually, SANG ALONG (!!) and volunteered to help with this benefit concert.

We are, always and in all ways, holding it together. ❤️‍🔥

This Sunday, May 10, we begin our summer worship schedule at First U. We will move to a single service at 10 a.m., in person and livestreaming, through September.

May 10 will be a Common Ground Sunday for children and youth. Check the newsletter or website for details. All ages are always welcome in the sanctuary, every Sunday!

Next Sunday, May 17, our summer Religious Education break begins. Childcare will be offered for nursery-preK every Sunday. All other ages are invited to multigenerational worship together in the sanctuary at 10 a.m. through September.
