After more late nights than I'd like to admit, I've just published my new book — How to Start a Church Safety Team.

Over the last decade I've had the privilege of helping hundreds of churches protect their people, and I've finally put everything I've learned into one practical guide — written for everyday volunteers and church leaders, not security experts.

It's not a fear book. It's about caring well for the people in the room, without turning your church into a fortress.

So here's my ask, if you or a church you love has ever wondered "should we have a safety team?" this book was written for you. And if you'd grab a copy as I launch, it would honestly mean the world to me.

And if it's not for you, a like or share, always helps! 🙏

One card. One conversation. Better decisions.

A church safety leader gathered a few volunteers before service and pulled one Decision Deck scenario card.

The situation involved a disruptive person in the lobby who was becoming louder and drawing attention.

Instead of giving a lecture, the leader asked:

“What would you do next?”

In less than 10 minutes, the team clarified:

Who would approach.

Who would observe.

Who would communicate with leadership.

When the situation should be escalated.

The outcome was simple but powerful.

Quieter volunteers started speaking up.

Newer team members understood expectations faster.
The leader discovered assumptions that needed correcting.

The team left with greater confidence and a more unified response.

That is the power of scenario-based training.

Train the decision before the crisis.

When pressure rises, people do not usually fail because they do not care.

They struggle because they have not practiced making the decision before the moment arrives.

That is why we created Decision Decks, practical, real-world scenario cards that help churches, schools, families, leaders, and teams think clearly, talk through difficult situations, and make better decisions together.

For the next 14 days, we are offering 30% off our entire Decision Deck library as part of our Memorial Day Sale.
Whether you are training a safety team, preparing volunteers, building leadership judgment, or helping your staff talk through real-life challenges, these decks give you a simple way to begin.

Stop Guessing Your Way Through the NSGP Process

Dustin applied for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program several times without success.

There’s an old saying: doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result is madness.

After multiple unsuccessful attempts, Dustin hired our team. Using our tested NSGP blueprint, we helped his church get over the finish line and secure more than $200,000 to enhance its security.

You don’t have to figure this out alone or stumble through the process in the dark. Our proven approach has helped organizations secure over $20 million in grant awards.

On Saturday, May 30, I’ll be hosting a masterclass from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. where I’ll walk you through the exact blueprint.

Join us and learn how to strengthen your application before the next NSGP cycle.
