We celebrated Pentecost, the day the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, filling them with courage, wisdom, and joy to share the Good News with the world. Pentecost reminds us that God’s Spirit is still alive and moving among us today.

Today we commemorate St. Alcuin. From the dailyoffice2019.com:

"Alcuin of York (c. 735-804) was an influential Anglo-Saxon scholar, theologian, and educator who served as a key advisor to Charlemagne, directed the Palace School at Aachen, became Abbot of Tours, and played a crucial role in the Carolingian Renaissance through his contributions to education, liturgical reform, and the preservation of classical knowledge."

St. Alcuin, pray for us.

Today we commemorate St. Dunstan, Archbishop of Canterbury and faithful reformer of the Church, who reposed in 988.

A scholar, monk, craftsman, and pastor, St. Dunstan helped renew the spiritual life of the English Church through his devotion to prayer, monastic discipline, and care for the faithful. He was instrumental in establishing the Benedictine Rule throughout England, strengthening monastic life and laying the foundation for lasting reform during a time of great turmoil. He is the patron saint of blacksmiths, goldsmiths, silversmiths, and musicians.

May his example inspire us to pursue holiness with wisdom, humility, and steadfast faith.

St. Dunstan, pray for us.

Today we honor St. Pachomius, a pioneer of Christian monastic life whose faith, discipline, and compassion helped shape communities rooted in prayer, humility, and service.

Born in the third century, he first encountered the hospitality of Christians while serving as a soldier in the army of Constantine. After leaving the army, he was baptized and lived as a hermit until he heard a voice directing him to build a monastery in Tabennisi. There, he established the rule of cenobitic life — monastic communities centered on common prayer, work, and fellowship.

St. Pachomius, pray for us.

Today we give thanks to Almighty God for the life and witness of St. Catherine of Siena, mystic, virgin, and doctor of the Church.

Born in 1347 in Italy, Catherine was marked by holiness, courage, and deep love for Christ crucified. From a young age, she dedicated herself to God. In an age of turmoil, she called the Church to repentance and unity with extensive writings that influenced Italian literature. Her life reminds us that sanctity is not reserved for the few, but is the calling of every baptized Christian.

Catherine’s devotion flowed from prayer, the Holy Eucharist, and service to the sick and poor. She teaches us that true renewal begins not in noise or ambition, but in hearts set aflame by the love of God.

St. Catherine, pray for us!

Today we honor St. Anselm, Archbishop of Canterbury, Benedictine monk, and faithful teacher of the faith, who entered eternal life in 1109.

Formed in the spirit of the Rule of St. Benedict, Anselm lived a life of prayer, humility, and devotion, seeking God in both contemplation and study. His legacy reminds us that a disciplined life rooted in faith can bear lasting fruit for the Church.

May his example strengthen us in our vocation and draw us ever deeper into the life of God.

St. Anselm, pray for us.
