MEN’S TALK - LET’S TALK ABOUT IT
What a powerful turnout today at MEN’S TALK: LET’S TALK ABOUT IT at El Shaddai Church of God in Christ!
A special thank you to Administrative Assistant Pastor Maurice Hughes and his lovely wife, First Lady Afrika Hughes, for graciously hosting this impactful gathering of men. Your hospitality, leadership, and commitment to building strong men and strong communities are greatly appreciated.
Today’s topic, “Healing the Boy Inside the Man,” touched the hearts of many. We engaged in honest conversations about childhood trauma, painful experiences, wounds from the past, and the realities that many men carry silently into adulthood. Men came willing to be transparent, willing to listen, willing to learn, and willing to grow.
The room was filled with energy, participation, wisdom, and brotherhood. Conversations were taking place throughout the room as men shared experiences, encouraged one another, and discovered they were not alone in their journey. We came in carrying burdens, but many walked away empowered, encouraged, and strengthened.
I would also like to thank Dr. Stephinnie Findley and the Findley Foundation for bringing their team and providing health screenings, blood pressure checks, A1C testing, and valuable health information for the men in attendance. Your commitment to the total well-being of our community is a tremendous blessing.
I would also like to recognize and thank First Lady Afrika Hughes, First Lady SHIRLEY Combs, and First Lady Evelyn Christian. Not only did they help with the preparation of the food, but they also graciously served plates to the men throughout the day. What a tremendous display of love, support, service, and commitment. Their willingness to serve was a beautiful reflection of their dedication to the work of the Men’s Department and the ongoing work of men’s ministry. We are truly grateful for their labor of love and for the example they set through their servant leadership.
A heartfelt thank you to the pastors and leaders who shared their wisdom and support throughout the day, including
Bishop Martin, Pastor Addison, Pastor Kirkendoll, Pastor Tommy Combs, Superintendent Vernon C. Crawley, and Administrative Assistant Pastor Maurice Hughes. Your insight, experience, and encouragement enriched the entire gathering.
Most importantly, thank you to every man who attended. Approximately 35 men participated throughout the day. Your presence, honesty, and willingness to engage made this event special. Today was a reminder that healing happens in community, growth happens through accountability, and strength is found in brotherhood.
As iron sharpeneth iron, so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Proverbs 27:17 (KJV)
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Thank you, brothers, for making today unforgettable.
After the fellowship the First Ladies made 22 plates and we went to the streets and fed and prayed for 22 men and women.
