Our goal is to transform the culture as we focus on the physical and spiritual needs of individuals and community through Biblically relevant preaching, programs and outreach. We are a place where the hurt, wounded, and unloved, will find love, healing and hope in Jesus Christ.

Scripture: “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” — Matthew 5:7

Devotion: Jesus closes this section of the Sermon on the Mount with a word on divorce that we need to handle carefully. In that culture, a man could divorce his wife for almost any reason — burning dinner, finding someone more attractive, or simply getting tired of her. Women had no legal recourse. They were left destitute, vulnerable, shamed.
Jesus isn’t adding a new rule to burden people. He’s protecting the vulnerable. He’s elevating covenant faithfulness. He’s saying marriage is not disposable, and people are not replaceable.
And this brings us to the heart of everything Jesus has been saying this week: God is not interested in your religious performance. He is after your heart.
The Pharisees had the right behavior and the wrong heart. Jesus doesn’t want your performance — He wants relationship with you. All of you. The parts you show on Sunday and the parts you hide on Monday. The anger you’ve spiritualized. The lust you’ve normalized. The brokenness you’ve buried under religious activity.
So let me ask you: Are you trying to earn from the outside what only God can do from the inside?
The gospel doesn’t just forgive your external failures. It transforms the heart beneath them. It doesn’t just cover your sin — it kills it and makes you new.
Bring it all to Him today. Not because you’ve cleaned it up first — but because He’s the only one who can clean it at all.

Takeaway: Jesus doesn’t want your performance. He wants your heart — all of it. And He’s the only one who can make it new.

Prayer: Father, I confess that I have too often settled for external obedience when You are after internal transformation. I have built fences when You wanted to do surgery. I have managed sin when You called me to mortify it. Forgive me. Search me. Reveal the anger, the lust, the broken relationships I’ve been hiding. And give me the courage to bring it all to the altar — not to perform, but to be made new. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Scripture: “But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” — Matthew 5:28

Devotion: Adultery doesn’t start in a hotel room. It starts in the mind.
Jesus moves from the seventh commandment to the heart behind it. The word for “looks” here is blepō — to look, to perceive — but it’s followed by epithumēsai — “to desire with intent.” This isn’t a glance. This isn’t noticing someone is attractive. This is the deliberate, sustained gaze that turns a person into an object for your consumption.
It’s the second look. The fantasy. The mental rehearsal. The slow justification: It’s not like I’m actually doing anything.
And then Jesus uses the most extreme language in the Gospels: “If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off” (vv. 29–30).
Jesus is not advocating self-mutilation. He’s using hyperbole — deliberate, shocking exaggeration — to make a point: take sin that seriously. Whatever it costs you to deal with the sin in your life, it’s cheaper than what it will cost you if you don’t.
That streaming service that’s become a pipeline to po*******hy — cut it off. That social media that pulls your attention in the wrong direction — remove it. That relationship that’s crossing emotional boundaries — sever it. That habit you’ve been managing instead of mortifying — amputate it.
Not because God is angry and looking to punish you. But because sin will eat you alive if you let it live.

Takeaway: What you don’t humble will humble you. Whatever it costs to cut sin off, it’s cheaper than what it will cost if you don’t.

Prayer: God, I bring You the hidden places — the thoughts I’ve justified, the habits I’ve managed instead of mortified. Give me the courage to cut off what’s cutting me down. I choose radical obedience today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Scripture: “Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way.” — Matthew 5:25

Devotion: Don’t let conflict calcify. Don’t let bitterness set like concrete.
Jesus presses urgency here. He says, “Agree with your adversary quickly while you are on the way with him.” There’s a window — a narrow window — where reconciliation is still possible, still reachable, still on the road. But if you wait too long, the relationship ends up behind bars.
The longer you hold onto a grudge, the more it holds onto you. What starts as a small offense grows roots. It becomes bitterness. And bitterness doesn’t just poison the relationship — it poisons you.
Hebrews 12:15 calls it a “root of bitterness” that defiles many. Not just you. Everyone around you. Your spouse feels it. Your kids absorb it. Your friendships suffer under the weight of something you refuse to put down.
Jesus says deal with it now. While you still can. While the relationship is still on the road and not locked behind a wall of resentment.
Maybe today, the most spiritual thing you can do isn’t another Bible plan or another fast. Maybe it’s picking up the phone and making the call you’ve been avoiding.

Takeaway: The longer you wait to reconcile, the harder it gets. Don’t let the window close.

Prayer: Father, I don’t want to carry this weight anymore. Show me where I’ve let conflict linger too long. Give me the humility to make the first move — not because they deserve it, but because You did it for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
