One thing all us breeders talk a lot about is cow families or sires etc when it comes to a bull or heifer we are selling and tonight when I was getting a new calf in the barn I looked at the dams tag number (D6272) and went dam that’s impressive to be 10 years old and still look that good and still have a awesome bag. Then when I went in the barn I had to say dam again because D266 calved yesterday with twins and same thing and is taking care of both calves. It hit me out of the blue the ages on these two females that they are both 10 years old and still doing awesome with no signs of slowing down. So long rant short it’s not something we do t talk about enough with terms of longevity but I personally think it’s very important especially these days when your investment will last for years instead of a year or two.
