“You and I were never meant to live a resistance-free life.”

As we wrapped up our Fruit series with a bonus message, we looked at the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Truth.

Jesus prepared His followers for the reality of resistance, testing, and opposition. Rather than being surprised by these things, we can trust that God often uses them to strengthen our faith and develop perseverance.

The good news is that we are not left on our own. The Holy Spirit guides us into truth, points us to Jesus, and helps us remain faithful as we stay connected to Him.

Stay deeply connected to Christ. The Spirit is still at work.

One takeaway from Sunday’s message:

Real life often comes as addition by subtraction.

In John 15, Jesus teaches that the Father prunes His branches so they can bear more fruit.

God prunes away what we mistake as our source of life until deep dependence on Christ is all that’s left.
