Harboring anger, bitterness, rage, and unforgiveness in your heart is like cancer eating away at you. It slowly drains your joy, steals your peace, and hardens your heart. Many people think they’re hurting the person who offended them, but in reality, they’re only keeping themselves bound.
Forgiveness does not mean what happened was right. It means you’re refusing to allow the offense to control your life any longer. God never intended for us to carry around the weight of resentment. What you refuse to release today may become the very thing that hinders your healing tomorrow.
Let it go. Give it to God. Pray for those who hurt you, and allow the Lord to heal the places that pain has touched. Your freedom is worth more than your bitterness.
“Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” — Ephesians 4:32
