A beautiful look at the long history and deep community roots behind this special event. Grateful to the The Mesa Tribune for sharing the story ✨

It began in 1938 as a simple Easter sunrise service with a few people and 88 years later has evolved into the world’s largest outdoor celebration of the core of the Christian faith. TONIGHT! 🌼 Please join us at the Mesa Temple Visitors' Center as we commemorate the 100-year anniversary of one of Mesa's legends, the Mezona. BYU Professor Fred E. Woods will present stories and photos highlighting this important piece of local history. First built by farmer John T. Vance in 1908, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints purchased the building and renamed it the Mezona in 1926. According to the Mesa Tribune, during the 1940's and 1950's the Mezona dance floors are where a good percentage of East Valley couples met, got engaged or announced their engagements. This entertaining and informative event will be held at the Visitors' Center on Monday, March 23 at 7:00 pm and is free to the public.
