Church Family,

Some of you may have heard of a busted pipe above the choir loft which caused our HVAC to shut down. Our facilities team has worked diligently to get the air conditioning back on successfully. We want to let you know that we will have regular church services tomorrow! (This includes Sunday School, nursery, etc.)

Hello, my name is Weston Downing.

I was raised in Covington, TN (about an hour north of Memphis), and graduated from the University of Memphis in 2020. Following college, I worked for two and a half years as a Field Representative for the U.S. House of Representatives. During this period, I also participated in the Downline Emerging Leaders program. Downline was instrumental in shifting my life’s trajectory, as it provided my first formal preparation for daily ministry and a deeper understanding of the power of God’s Word. About two years later, I relocated to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to work with Pastor Steve Winstead in coordinating the first Downline Ethiopia program. After nine months in Ethiopia, I returned to Memphis to marry my wife, Mary Ann, and continued to work with Downline for an another three years. This past May, I completed a Master of Applied Theology at Midwestern Baptist Seminary and transitioned into my current role at First Evan. My wife and I consider it a privilege to minister alongside the congregation at First Evan and a joy to be members of this church.

Hello, my name is Becca Thompson.

I am now in the new roll “Outreach Coordinator!” I get the privilege of working alongside both Corky White and Steven Yeo with our Global and Memphis Ministries partners! I grew up at First Evangelical Church, where God planted the seed in my heart to love the Nations, but I moved away for many years to pursue further education and mission opportunities— such as Mississippi College, Youth With A Mission (YWAM), and Dallas Theological Seminary! I’m grateful to have the opportunity to apply what God has taught me around the States AND the globe, as well as continue learning how a local church faithfully obeys the Great Commission!
